Costuming

My first costume I wore that I can remember was a store bought Tinker Bell outfit. I loved that mask. I can still remember the smell of it. I wore it for a number of Halloweens. At the end of the evening, my mother would take the costume from me (probably with protest) and put it back into its box where it would stay until the next Halloween. I remember when my father and mother made my brother a Jawa costume. My father made the eyes out of LEDs and my mother free formed the costume. They received a lot of compliments on that one.

At my first science fiction convention, a Mini Con in Atlanta (I still have the button that was the badge), I saw adults wearing really good original Trek costumes. Fantasy Fair in Atlanta was were I saw my first real Costume Contest in all its glory. My first costume was one of the faceless drones from the Hellfire Club in a costume entitled

Here’s a hint. I can only do it this summer because Caroline is growing like a weed.

  3. Jarissa says:

Okay, so, WHERE are you going to do it, then?

  4. ObeeKris says:

    Ummmm, dandelion costume? 🙂

    Jarissa-
Shoreleave and possibly DragonCon. I haven’t ever entered at DragonCon I think although I use to run tech for it.

    ObeeKris-
Umm no. There is a big hint in my blog as to what is it going to be. Has something to do with a DVD reissue. (insert eveil laugh here)

    Thinking about your hint…

Oh, my. It’s going to be something Labyrinth-related, isn’t it?

I don’t know if my mind can quite wrap itself around the notion of Peter in the Bowie outfit… 🙂

Tim gets the gold star but no bananna because Peter ain’t doing Bowie….
    So Caroline is ?

  8. Tim Lynch says:

I’m so very glad Peter’s not doing Bowie. I think Lisa’s eyeballs would have melted. 🙂

Caroline … well, the obvious guess is the baby brother who gets abducted (Toby?). Is it that obvious? (The armor might be for a whole crowd ‘o’ goblins.)

  9. Kathleen David says:

Yep. I am going to make the Goblin armor that has been rattling around in my head for a while.

  10. Tim Lynch says:

Cool. I hope it works out — and that pictures get posted!

Keen! My husband’s first guess was that Peter might become Hoggle.

If you decide to enter the DragonCon masquerade, and if you’ll need pack mules to help move parts to the staging area, please let me know! One of our friends enters every year (he was the Alien Jedi a couple years ago, and the Mind Flayer in the Shaft-a-Riffic purple last year) for the joys of meeting other costumers. We’ll certainly be heading in that direction anyhow, and there’s no reason why we can’t be useful while we travel.

Unless I get sick again, in which case I can still send the rest of my little group in your direction if you wish pack mules. But THIS year, I am going to get innoculated six ways from Sunday just before we hit the road!
