They are doing a free concert in Brooklyn tonight. So Peter and I are going in and, with a little bit of good luck, we’ll get to see it. This is our anniversary present to us considering we were going to do this a year ago but that was during the back saga so we didn’t. I am hoping that the rain holds off today but not holding my breath.
This next week is going to be a crazy one but I think I can make it. I was informed that I am less than a month away from Shoreleave. So that is now really hanging over my head.
I think I just heard another tree crack and fall. We have been having a lot of that in the neighborhood lately.
There is a nice breeze today and the humidity feels a little lower. Might do something outside unless it starts to rain.
New things I learned this week. Cats don’t have shoulder blades which explains how they can get into some of the spaces that seem impossible. People will say the strangest things with no information and no motivation to education themselves on a topic that they proclaim they know a lot about but it shows how much they don’t know. There are women my age out there who type like they are pre-teens and still don’t understand why “just kidding” doesn’t help to explain their childish behavior. My 30th high school reunion would have been this year. Hard to believe.
Off to do something productive.
I am grateful for people who act like they do in person on the Internet.

I am an X-Men fan from way back. I started with the Lee and Kirby comics and read my way through them and then the New X-Men. My three favorite characters in the Marvel Universe are Dr. Strange, Professor X, and Magento. So I got two out of three with this film.
My general review will be before the cut. Any spoilers will be after the cut and in the comments.
Wow. That was really good. Understand I enjoyed Thor and Pirates but this one had me at the edge of my seat at time and not just to read the subtitles. I am glad that it is not in 3-D. It didn’t need it.
The casting was spot on all the way through. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender do an incredible job as Charles and Erik. They have to carry the movie and they do so very well and smartly dressed too. You get to watch both the construction and destruction of their friendship in the same film. Also you could see mannerism used in this film which were used in the other X-men films by Mr. Stewart and Mr. McKellen.
I heard that Kevin Bacon was going to be playing Sebastian Shaw and I thought it’s he a little small to play Shaw? Nope. He does an excellent job with this meaty villain. They did play around with the continuity a little but considering what a morass the Marvel continuity is, I’ll give them many points for keeping it as close as they did.
The rest of the cast does a really good job too. The other mutants are some interesting choices. Mystic by Jennifer Lawrence was very well done. She did a lot with not very much and made her part very believable. Nicholas Hoult is very good as Hank McCoy/Beast. His arc was right out of the comic book. There are a couple of cameos that I’ll talk about in the spoiler section but I have to say best use of the “f” word in a PG-13 film probably ever.
It looked right, it felt right, and I enjoy it. Not an intellectual film but that really doesn’t matter. It is an Epic Superhero movie done right. I do feel it needs to be seen on a large screen because there are some scenes that have a lot going on in them.
I am grateful that the film got made.

I don’t remember when I first heard “the journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step”. I do know it was a very long time ago and that phrase has stuck with me. Beginnings can be fun or scary or necessary. Many times the ends don’t match what you thought at the beginning the ending was going to be. That has happened a lot to me in my life.
But one has to start somewhere and move on from that point. Starting can be hard. That first step can feel like a doozy and in the middle you wonder if you are ever going to be done or if you bit off more than you can chew. The middle of the journey can be both the most exciting and the most frustrating part at the same time.
Once you get to the end, you look back and see what you would have done differently or, on some occasions, know that you did exactly what you needed to do.
Right now I am at the start point on a couple of projects and the end of a couple as well. I am at my musing phase on the projects to come even though I have started buying some of the stuff I need. I need to start sewing soon if I am going to be able to make my deadlines for stuff.
I am grateful for the first step, the last step and all the steps in between.

Just been that kind of week. Peter has been under the weather but keeps pushing through because he wants to finish the book he is writing. I still have Field Day stuff that keeps popping up with little to no information right now. I have a hand on it but I won’t feel comfortable until we have all the ducks in a row rather than most of them.
Then there is Shoreleave which is feeling a little overwhelming right now. Ariel is going to her job in a couple of weeks for the summer. Caroline is not sorted out for the summer but she wants to do the library challenge. I am looking at the local Girl Scout Camp for a week or so because I think she would have so much fun. She doesn’t want to do the local camp because of the goose poop that is all over the fields which she apparently is very allergic to. I want her to be able to swim over the summer and really take swimming lessons so she can learn those few things that she hasn’t gotten down yet.
Then there are the things that need to be done around the house. Lawns to be mowed. Plants to be tended. Indoor cleaning to be kept up with. People need to be fed. Things just need to be done.
I think I need to put the table back up in the Kitchen and go from there. One Step at a time and I’ll make it. I know I can.
I am grateful for anything that makes Peter feel better right now.

I am going to do sort of a brain dump of all the ideas in my head right now for Shoreleave and DragonCon.
I will say that I have 3 puppets and about 10 outfits to sew for Shoreleave as well as this list. Two of the puppets are a bit more complicated than usual but it all should work out.
I do want your input on this. What interests you out of the list? What have you seen a million times? Do you have any other ideas?
Now remember this is a brain dump. I am not doing all these ideas
