Apparently I missed a memo where we went from the Zentangle craze to the Coloring craze.

Funny thing is that Ariel always bought a couple of coloring books and crayons at the beginning of the school year when she was in college and used them as mindless fun to clear her head. And that was a number of years ago.

Right now you can’t swing a stuffed lion without hitting a coloring book in Barnes and Noble. They are in the magazine section. They are on stands all over the floor and on the bargain tables.

And these are not little kids coloring books. These are the more complicated versions that Dover published for years and now everyone else is jumping on. The lines are fine and the drawing elaborate. Some seem to start simple and get more complex as one goes on.

I thought that Zentangles would last longer but apparently repetitive drawing is no longer in vogue.

I like coloring. I find it very mind clearing. A box of colored pencils and a good coloring book will keep me happy as long as the pencils work.

I have always enjoyed the Dover coloring books and am glad to see that I have a much greater selection to choose from. I tend to photocopy the drawings from the books so I can use them more than once and play around with color as I go.

Also this month I am participating in Drawlloween, which is a drawing prompt per day. It’s fun seeing what others have come up with. Why I am I doing it? Since I have no drawing talent or very little, I did this to encourage others to participate and put their work out there as well. It’s just a fun activity to do for the month.

I am also participating in a Halloween card exchange with a bunch of Holmes fans. For that I think I am going to be using puppets and photography to my advantage. More on that as I get it done.

So creative projects galore now I just need to sort them out in order of priority.

I am grateful for a plethora of different kinds of projects.

Again no spoilers for future episodes. But you’re allowed to speculate what is going to happen.

I enjoyed this one. I enjoy a good mystery and a good ghost story and this was both.

I like that the deaf character was played very well by Sophie Leigh Stone who is deaf and she was not a damsel in distress but a leader trying to do the best for her people.

None of the women were damsels in distress but some of the men were which was a nice flip.

I almost didn’t write this since the second half is going to reflect back on the set up in this episode but I thought it would be interesting to see what I would say without seeing the ending of the episode.

Three more months and this year is done.

I do know where the year went. I have web log entries and photos showing me what I have been doing with my year.

October is an interesting month. A lot of my energy goes into getting ready for the end of the month.

Yes, Halloween is my favorite holiday. I like the rest but this one gets me in my sweet spot.

My favorite ride at Disney is the Haunted Mansion.

I like the spooky feel of the holiday.

I don’t particularly care for slasher films. I just don’t see the point. But I do love a good thriller.

Nightmare before Christmas is in my top ten of films that I love. I adore that film.

Caroline and I are plotting her costume for this year. I told her that she had to give me her final decision today between the five ideas she has.

I am unsure if I am putting up the graveyard since we had our lawn redone and it looks like a lawn rather than a desert. I know there will be some very disappointed folks who have taken pictures of their kids in front of the graveyard every year since I started putting it up which was probably about 15 years ago. I will at least get the lighting up since it helps people see the steps.

I have a couple of Halloween related projects that I want to get done. I am doing a card exchange and a drawing challenge. That on top of those things that must be done by the end of the year, which is now three months away.

I am figuring out which puppets are going to come out and play on Halloween night. I always have fun with the kids. Might have to make a new Ghost puppet.

I am grateful for the fun of Halloween.

Usual rules apply. Any episode up to and including this one. Speculation is fine but it has to be YOUR speculation and I have been avoiding spoilers which can be difficult on Tumblr but I have learned how.

This is part two of the episode and that’s the way they are playing it all season. So far I don’t see an arc for the season and I am fine with that.

I am happy with the story. It has a good beginning, a moving middle and a fine end. The two ‘oh come on’ moments were commented on by the characters within the story and addressed by the end of the story. So points to Moffat for that.

I am hoping that Missy will be showing up down the road. Between the writing and the acting, she is fast becoming my favorite version of the character.

So the writing was slick. The actors did a fine job. Julian Bleach did an excellent job again as Davros. This has become my favorite performance of his in that role. More on that behind the cut.

Next week’s episode is entitled Under the Lake. Am I the only one seeing a King Arthur theme to the titles?

Well I have no idea how much I am going to sort out here but know that there is a lot of it going on in my head.

I have a book to write that I am still doing some research on before I dive in.

I have a couple of opportunities for writing that I need to take to get my name out there and get a few more credits.

I have three (OK 2 and a ½) puppets that I need to get done before the end of the year plus getting a jump on next year.

I signed up for a Halloween card exchange that I did last year that was lots of fun. And I have a clever idea for the cards themselves. There is a Sherlock theme to the whole thing and I got puppets and a camera.

And there is the usual keeping the larder stocked and the house in some sort of order. Caroline has taken over the laundry so that makes my life so much easier.

Mets magic number is 3. I would like it to be done before they play the Nats at the end of the season. It would be nice to have some post season Mets.

Basketball is starting soon I think.

Giants won their first game of the season.

Caroline’s tennis team have their first game on Tuesday. She also has Girl Scouts. She has a very busy calendar.

As to NYCC (New York Comic Con), I will be there Saturday and maybe Sunday if we can get a badge for Caroline. If not then Caroline will be attending with Peter and I will be wandering the city on my own for the day.

Today is about getting things ready for the next step. It is a thinking day and a cleaning day. And I get a lot of thinking done when I clean.

Oh look! I found my motivation and its not sheer panic. It apparently found its way back home. Now if my muse would follow, I’d be a happy camper.

I guess I am over whatever was kicking my butt since Dragon Con. So that’s about a month since I felt normal or what passes for normal with me.

I think the Holmes puppets are coming with me to NYCC and will be for sale. But then again maybe not. I haven’t a clue if there is any interest.

I am grateful for feeling better than I have in a long while.
