When I heard that Maisie Williams had been cast in Doctor Who, I was intrigued. I had enjoyed her on Game of Thrones and thought she had grown a lot as an actress as the seasons went on. I was not disappointed.

This was one that you could drop almost any Doctor into except for one detail that I will discuss in the spoiler section behind the cut.

I think we are getting a little more fleshed out on what the arc this season. I have a theory, which I will propose later.

Good story over all. Solid Doctor Who which seems to be the norm these days.

Usual rules apply to future episodes and the like. Spoilers for this episode and all previous episodes are under the cut.

Since Caroline had been out of town for “Under the Lake” and we were at NYCC when “Before the Flood” aired so I saw both episodes back to back and they work very well as a piece but were also fascinating individually.

This was fun from opening monologue to closing sentence. There isn’t any cheating here between the time zones and the actions of the characters.

Good character development through out. I felt sorry for each person meeting their fate as I had some idea who each one was.

I am glad that we met one of the ghosts before he was a ghost. Some great dialogue for him.

There isn’t much more I can say without spoiling something for someone.

I have known for years that my husband is a die-hard Mets fan but he was living and dying for the team while watching the game last night.

I was hoping that they won just because of what happened to Tejada. Utley needs to be called on the carpet for that one. And I don’t need to hear that he was just playing the game because that was a choice he made that should cost him as much as it is costing Tejada in games not played in.

Now it’s the Mets vs. Cubs and I am torn. Part of me wants the Cubs to win the whole thing because of Back to the Future but it’s the Mets and my husband would be so happy if they won.

We looked at the calendar and we are actually home this weekend AND next weekend. Then things go back to convention craziness for Peter until almost December.

Project Runway had an interesting twist. They had the crew, which the cast has worked with the whole season as the client which made for some interesting television. And Tim Gunn swearing? They have edited him before but this time they showed him just losing it with good reason.

I am enjoying the heck out of Once Upon A Time. This season is very different than the other seasons. I also have the next puppet I am doing along those lines.

New shows I am enjoying are Minority Report, Blindspot, and Life in Pieces. Life in Pieces is a brilliant idea well executed. I hope that it does well enough to continue because the ensemble is wonderful and the stories are interesting. If you aren’t watching it, give it a try for one of the most original ways of storytelling for TV.

Halloween is looming. I need to get cracking on Caroline’s costume. It is not complicated but it has a lot of pieces and needs to be done by the Harvest Dance. I am probably going to not do the graveyard that I have been doing for 15 years due to the reseeding of the lawn. I am going to decorate the porch and put out the lights.

Drawlloween is going well. Today’s prompt is grave both easy and hard. I also want to get my other Halloween project out of the way.

I did get the house pretty much back in order. I think after I finish cleaning today, I’ll be back to the normal house or as normal as this house gets.

I am going to work with Caroline on her serve this weekend. I think if I can teach her the physics of the serve, she’ll get the idea. Yes, I can still play tennis.

Laundry and cat boxes are on my list as well for today.

At least for the first time in a while I feel awake rather than just dragging myself from the bed because I need to get up and deal with the world. Crossing my fingers for no dizziness today, which is getting old really quickly. I am thinking it might be an inner ear problem at this point.

And I have writing to do. A lot of writing to do. So that’s in the mix for today.

Now to start and finish something.

I am grateful for the Mets getting it together this year.

Which is the 5th anniversary of wearing purple to show that you stand with the LBTG youth and against bullying.

There have been a number of times in my life where my LBTG friends greatly outnumbered my straight friends. In the theater we had a saying, ‘Gay until proven straight’ because it just was.

I found out later in life that I have had gay people in my life pretty much my whole life but, at the time, they couldn’t be open about their partners because of the stigma of being gay in America. I am not saying it doesn’t still exist but it is a lot easier now then it was in the 1960s.

Bullying is something I know all too well having been on the receiving end of it through most of elementary and high school. In High School I was suspended for shoving another kid down the stairs due to that I couldn’t take the bullying he had been inflicting on me for years. After that he left me mostly alone because he was a little surprised I was that strong.

The kern of hope that I care in all this has to do with Caroline’s generation. There is still bullying but it is being dealt with in different ways. But Caroline and her classmates really don’t care if you are LBTG. They know kids who have declared themselves gender fluid. I know for a fact there are two kids in her class at elementary school who are trans and attend school as they see themselves. I went from calling one kid Carla to Carl and another from William to Wendy.

To Caroline being gay is like having blue eyes or brown hair. It is part of who you are but it is not all of who you are.

I honestly don’t care what sextual orientation anyone is. I care more about if I am working with you, can you get the job done? I think what goes on behind closed doors with fully consenting adults is entirely their business and none of mine. But some think it is their business and that is wrong on so many levels.

Bullying is wrong. It is flat out wrong. It doesn’t build character. And it hurts people.

We have to tell these kids that they are loved and appreciated.

We say it will get better but let’s do what we can to make it better.

We have to help the vulnerable members of our society. We have to tell them that they are worth something no matter what a loud vocal minority says.

We have to step up and say this will not stand when we see bullying.

It is better than it was but not as good as it will be.

I am grateful for all the LBTG people I have in my life.

New Who Review is going to have to wait until I actually see the episode.

Well that was a convention but a little different from my usual NYCC.

Through a series of circumstances, I was hired by Magnolia Pictures to run their booth at NYCC. So, except for a few rare circumstances, that is where you would find me this year. Booth 2319 which Peter and I found funny because of Monsters INC.

Caroline joined us for Friday then spent some time with Gwen and went to her best friend’s birthday party. We picked her up from her friend’s house on our way home.

Bone tired is how I would describe how I feel this morning. Also my voice is shot from trying to talk to people over the various dins.

We sold a lot of DVDs, talked to a lot of people about Magnet and the films it distributes, and helped people find their way to other booths.

I did come up with something fun for both us and the attendees, Cos-play Bingo. We created a Bingo Card and sent people out of find costumes that fit the categories. They had fun and we got to see some awesome costumes that we would have not seen. Prizes were given and people told me that they had a lot of fun doing it.

The days were long and the floor was murder on my back but I survived and had some fun too.

I spent time with old friends and made some new ones. Through a series of circumstances, I was able to get some friends into the convention that would not have been able to come.

I met some interesting people along the way too including the gentleman who is responsible for the footage of Pizza Rat, Aasif Mandiv, and Jared Gilman. I saw interesting people as well. Kind of crazy that Vin Diesel is checking out one’s DVDs. Whoopi Goldberg was running around with Chloe Bennet and Clark Gregg. Tom Hanks was walking around but almost no one recognized him because of the mustache. Everyone seemed to be having fun.

The lines for lines were crazy but those who got their holy grails of exclusives were happy. I got myself a Sherlock hoodie that I really like and had a long conversation at the WETA booth about balancing swords since their pommel was not doing its job.

I did get to go out to dinner with the Marvel Spiderman gang and then to the Marvel party. Got to talk to a number of people in slightly less noisy surroundings. The reason I could do so is that we found a reasonably priced room in Time Square so we could sleep in a little the next day.

So everyone I didn’t see, sorry to have missed you. It everyone I did see, nice to do so again.

I am grateful for the opportunity that working the convention gave me.
