I know it is Wednesday but Photobucket, the WiFi and my computer didn’t want to talk to each other so here it is
Caroline, after much thought, decided she wanted to be Destiny Harper from a comic books series called Vamplets. She had a specific ball-gown she wanted to recreate. It was going to be hard but not impossible.

Osgood is a character that was introduced in the Day of the Doctor. She popped again in Death in Heaven and popped off due to the Master being evil pure and simple.
And now she is back in a slightly larger role with a lot depending on her.
Osgood is a fan of the Doctor. One assumes that the Caretaker gave her the scarf she was wearing in The Day of the Doctor. Then there are the other slight touches of someone who worships something possibly a little more than she should. She is just on this side of obsession.
The Zygons were used in the Day of The Doctor and we find out what happened next and the consequences and they aren’t the best.
I enjoyed this and really want to see where they are going with this over all. It is a solid Doctor Who episode that could be any Doctor but it is this one.
Good use of Clara too. However I get the feeling that they are getting us use to the time after Clara considering how much time she is not with the Doctor.
So next week we find out what is in the box and how this will all sort out.

Hi, did you miss me?
I need to make it through today and then I can regroup and get on with November.
Halloween on a Saturday makes for a long day. Trick or Treating can go on for a long time. However we are well stocked with comics and candy so I hope we don’t run out. Our gag for this year is that we have X-factor comics to hand out which Peter is going to sign on the inside so that they have a signed comic.
Caroline’s costume is mostly done. She took it on a test drive at the school dance and popped the hook and eyes I had put in to secure her skirt. I am going to get snaps today to solve that problem. But she looked great in it. I’ll have pictures and the like on Tuesday. She is going as Destiny Harper from the comic book series Vamplets.
Mets won and finally looked like they were having fun doing it.
I saw two “horror” films in the theater this year. The first was Goosebumps which had the right amount of scare with humor. I was really not too sure going in but it was a delightful movie with a strong cast and Jack Black manages, for the most part, not to be Jack Black. There are some really good zingers through out with enough for the adults to enjoy without going crazy and the kids get that lovely shiver from being scared safely.
The other was a film that needs to be seen and enjoyed but no one is doing so because the marketing department, again, doesn’t seem to know what to do with a del Toro film. When Peter and I saw the trailers on TV, we weren’t sure about seeing it because it looked like a ghost slasher film which is not our cuppa. But it was Del Toro and Hiddleston so it was hard to resist and then I heard an interview which tipped me off that the marketing department was not doing their job well.
So we went to see Crimson Peak and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Strong script that by the end of the film everything was answered. Great performances and lovely direction. It should be up for a costuming Oscar. And it was a Gothic Horror in the tradition of the Roger Corman’s Poe films especially Tomb of Ligeia. There is more mystery and mind games than bloody ghosts however there are some pretty bloody ghosts.
This year the graveyard is not in the front yard for the first time in over 15 years. We had the lawn reseeded and it needs a year to toughen up before I put the tombstones up. But I did put in the lights so that’s something.
Tomorrow starts the month of novel writing which I shall be doing but with a purpose. I have one started that I need to get done within the next month and a half.
That and a couple of puppets.
This I can do.
I am grateful for the fun of this holiday.

Interesting episode that has some very clever concepts going on. No Clara for the most part, which means that it is a very Doctor-centric episode.
I think I can count on my fingers, with the Daleks and Cybermen aside, the number of episodes of Doctor Who that are about the consequences of his previous actions especially the consequence of his interactions with humans. He does find out what happened to Sarah Jane. We have a couple of episode with the Brigadier after he retired. And there is Captain Jack but I was never sure if Captain Jack was really human.
This is a skilled work about what happens after actions he took cause those ripples he is always talking about and we rarely see.
Top marks to all the actors involved. Maisie Williams is going to have a long and varied career. She does not have an easy role to play but she plays it with such ease that she makes it look effortless and that is the mark of a great actor.

It’s that time of year where Caroline has decided what she wants for her Halloween costume and I am going to be making it. The fun is that she has a Halloween party on Friday that she wants her costume for. I have a little less time than I would like.
She has chosen to be Destiny Harper from the Vamplets series. She wants the ball gown in the photo.

I found a pattern I can use for it so I don’t have to draft something.
(for the VI: This is a pattern for the movie Cinderella and Fairy Godmother costumes.)
I do have to change things a bit but that takes less time.
Three days and one heck of a dress and accessories. Let’s see if I can do this.
Next week I’ll be showing how I did it and the final product.
I am grateful that I have a skill set that allows me to make these things.
