The Writing’s on the Wall

Posted By on March 2, 2016

As in I have that song stuck in my head. Yes, it won the Oscar, which is probably why it started up again in my head. I think if I could get all the way through it, it might vanish but right now I am stuck on the chorus.

We have been watching the People vs. OJ Simpson. I honestly don’t remember the Kardashians being so prominent in the story. Mark Furman, Johnny Cochran, and Marsha Clarke I remember. I guess they are being put in to make it relevant to the young in this country. It has been interesting to see what I remember from that trial.

Today is a mixed day with a lot of running around for various activities.

I am just going to start at point A and see where I can get by the end of it.

I did get the paper recycling out this morning. It was a month’s worth because last time it was raining so hard I didn’t feel that getting it out would help other than to make me soggy.

It was easier when it was two bins every week.

I am grateful for reminders of upcoming events.

Crafty Tuesday

Yesterday I was at bowling. I had two spares and a strike. I went up to the line and dropped my ball into the gutter because my hand had a sudden spasm and I lost my grip. I sat down and put my hands together and realized that it was not going to be my best night bowling. One of my teammates saw my shaking hands and asked if I was OK. I had to explain essential tremors and what they are yet again and said I’ll be fine but my average is going to take a hit.

I can usually tell what kind of day I am going to have in terms of physical coordination pretty much after I get up. It is not always accurate but gives me a baseline as to what is going to work and what is not.

Fine work is not happening on the days where I am shaking like a leaf. Typing can be difficult as well but I have an easier time with the typing than I do with some needle work. However the number of typos I create is amazing. Some day I am going to wear out my back button on this.

I have the materials for a couple of projects. I have some close to but not quite fabric for two projects where I am going to be able to create a version of a coat or dress but it is not quite what I wanted. A perfect example of this was Sherlock’s Belstaff coat. I searched high and low for a fabric that would work for a puppet sized coat. I ended up making a temp coat. Then Caroline and I went into Mood where they had a table of fabric that was left over from a Michael Kors collection and there was the perfect fabric for the coat. I got it cheap as a remnant and it works for the puppet perfectly.

I have to draft all the patterns for the clothing for my puppets. After I finish a pattern I try to keep it together but the fey being what they are, pieces will go missing for what every reason. And then there are the times that the bag o’ patterns vanishes from the face of the earth. I could recreate it but it would take a lot of whiles.

And there is just life. Things that must be done and need to be done before the creative can happen. Food must be bought and cooked. Pets need to be taken care of. Family needs to be taken care of. Life happens.

March, according to the fabric and craft stores, is National Craft Month and with that come the appropriate coupons and the like. So I will be seeing how much I can craft in a month. I figure a picture a day on my tumblr will be my benchmark. My general tumblr is Puppetmaker40 and off of that is my puppet making tumblr which is Puppetmaker52 . I think I am going to put the photos on 52 and reblog it to 40. And yes there is a rhyme and reason to both designations.

So feel free to follow along.

I am grateful for things to get through the obstacles both physical and mental.

Wait, I have to write an extra Entry for February?

Posted By on February 29, 2016

This year is the year were I am trying to do some form of entry per day and I pick the year with the extra day? Of course I did.

Actually I really liked the Google Doodle for today.

Yesterday I got the living room picked up and the kitchen back in order so that’s good.

Today I need to get back to the puppets. I have three that are pressing on my mind rather hard to get done.

Not a great night’s sleep due to a real head pounder that happens on occasion. Not a migraine thank goodness but still makes it very hard to sleep. So I was up and down most of the night. I guess after the pain fades I’ll feel sleepy.

The weather is nice. We seem to be heading for an early spring which will be fine by me considering last years endless winter.

Is it me or is ABC trying to have one comedy about every type of person in the US? Some have hit and some have missed and now we are adding the Irish. I am betting they are not expensive to produce.

I am looking forward to next Sunday and the return of Once Upon a Time.

We did watch the Oscars. Many points to Chris Rock and his team for taking such good care of the elephant in the room. The only surprise was best picture for me. Peter blogged it live on his site and it can be found here.

He also blogged about a word I came up with.

What to do with my extra day this year, what to do…..

Well I am going to start by walking to the gym and see if some exercise can shake this headache loose.

After that bring down the puppet bin and the fabric and start finishing faces then making clothes.

This afternoon I will go over to the school and light up some jellyfish for Caroline’s play.

I am grateful for less head pain.

Where I am at loose ends on what to write.

Calling it Random Thoughts before the Coffee kicks in after a small pot of coffee doesn’t work for me.

My mind is already on the day and what needs to get done when and what I would like to do before the end of the day.

I did get stuff done yesterday but didn’t get the big thing I wanted to get done, done.

I need to build puppets this week.

Later Got the grocery shopping in for the week. Have the meal plan ready for the week ahead.

Now onto the next thing. I know I am doing baby steps here and that’s where my head is at.

I promise photos of puppet work soon as I start to work on puppets again.

And I will be doing so.

Just need to wrap my mind around it.

I am grateful that I got through the grocery store considering the number of people who were there when I left.

Do it yourself to Make it yourself?

Aren’t they basically the same thing? Or is this one of those subtle marketing things that boys do and girls make? Or am I over thinking this?

Probably overthinking since I have been up since 6:00AM and still having had coffee. I dealt with a few things around the house including the leavings of two cats with stomach upset. I’ll have to review the food again to see if there is a pattern or if the cats were just being greedy guts.

Caroline is off to a friend’s Bat Mitzvah today at the same synagogue that Ariel had her Bat Mitzvah at over 10 years ago. Then she is going to the party and will be home later today.

I plan on doing things around the house and get cracking on finding some puppets that are misplaced that I need for Caroline’s play.

I have been overthinking a lot of things lately. I have stepped away from the Internet a bit just to clear my head. Facebook, through no fault of anyone, has been not a great place to browse. I am just not in the best headspace to deal with things that annoy me right now so my solution is to avoid it.

Yep, I am going to be a bit selfish and take sometime for myself. But I know that if I don’t I am going to be out of sorts in the real world and stepping back keeps me grounded with what is important.

I am grateful for anything that gets done today.
