RTBTCKI If it fits I sits edition

Posted By on March 9, 2016

This is Fig’s new thing. She sits in small boxes and she barely fits or doesn’t fit but she acts like she has all the room in the world. We call it “if it fits I sits”. That cat loves sitting in boxes and on towels. She will push the towel around until it is the size of her body and then sit on top of it.

It is suppose to get up to the mid 60s today. Might have to open some windows and let the stale house get some air. Unless we get another arctic blast, I think that was one of the mildest winters in a while. Almost makes up for last years snow and deep freeze.

But we do have that stupid Daylight Savings time in which we lose an hour’s worth of sleep for no reason that makes sense anymore. My compromise on this would be to go back to the Last Sunday in April and First Sunday in October where I will not be worrying about my daughter walking in the dark to get to school. I don’t need day light at 8 pm.

Today I am going to make the clams for the Little Mermaid and then, except repairs, I have done my obligations for the school play. I think I impressed some of the other parents with what I can do. I have a feeling I might be call upon for some other projects that might actually pay me.

Living with the writer of stuff sometimes I forget that I can write too and I am pretty doggone good at it. On occasion someone reminds me that I do know what I am doing as a wordsmith. I just should trust my abilities more.

When everyone is going to the gym consistently, we have more laundry so it’s laundry day today.

All the cats are napping now having had their breakfast.

Well off to make clams and do laundry.

I am grateful for Neosporin and other things that heal cuts.

As is the dreaded Daylight Savings Time which I hate with a passion of a fiery thousand suns. It has no POINT. It does nothing that they say it does. We need to get rid of it or push it back to where it was originally because I don’t like my child walking to school in the dark. Plus my internal clock has been and always will be on standard time.

Baseball is starting up with exhibition games that don’t mean anything except you get a look at the potential of your baseball team. Still fun to watch .

I have to build two fish and two oysters in two days and rig a bunch of jelly fish with lighting. All this done by 3 pm tomorrow and then back to the other projects.

I can do this.

Fish are not hard and don’t need clothing. Clams are not as easy but once sorted out they do go together nicely.

I can do this.

Yes, I know I am repeating myself.

Inky has a new sound that like a meow on a super sonic level. We have no idea how she is making it but we can tell that it is her.

I need more coffee.

I have a number of other things that must happen today so I guess I’ll get cracking on that list.

I am grateful that I can build puppets.

Happy Birthday Mom the 2016 Edition

Today is my mother’s birthday.

My mother is an amazing woman who is an example of the possibilities that both America and the educational system can work and upward mobility is possible if you work really hard.

She worked hard to get where she is today. Nothing was just handed to her. She is a very smart person who used her abilities to improve her life.

She raised four children who turned out to be productive members of society.

She is a Master Gardener who learned at an early age how to garden and took that knowledge to create a backyard that was on a House and Garden tour last year.

She is an amazing cook. I think I am most pleased with my cooking when I can get a dish that she made to taste like she made it. She taught me how to make all kinds of dishes. I have the cookbook she created for her children so we can make the things we loved as children.

Her baking talents are legendary. Her Christmas cookies are much loved by the people who partake in them. Her bread is amazing as are her cinnamon buns which are Caroline’s favorite.

She taught me how to be a parent by being a good parent to me and my brothers and sister. She has always been there for us when we have needed her.

She taught me to sew and we all know what rabbit hole that went for me. She made me clothing when I was much younger. I had these great jumpers that I picked the cloth on occasion for that were perfect for summer wear. She made curtains that still hang in the house among other things.

She taught me by example that being nice to people is the right thing to do. That treating people the way you wanted to be treated is a good thing. And that means everyone you encounter. No one is beneath your attention and good manners.

I am trying to pass all that she taught me onto my daughter. I think I am succeeding. Her lessons are ingrained in me and I appreciate all the time she took to make sure I was ready to deal with the world.

Happy Birthday Mom!

I love you.

Hope the day brings you lots of lovely things.

Your eldest daughter,

Kath

I am grateful that my mom is my mom.

Apparently it is still winter

Or at least the snow falling outside my window is telling me that we are not quite at spring yet.

Fortunately it is not sticking to the sidewalk or the roadway. There might be some slick spots but overall it’s OK. The car is covered in a light dusting which can be brushed off if I need to go anywhere.

As promised, I will be posting a photo a day for the puppet making.

Here is today’s photo:

(For the VI: this is a pile of bags and boxes with the head of one puppet peeking out of the top bag)
So I found everything I need to finish this set of puppets.

If I don’t get anything done, I’ll post another picture of the pile. Just trying to keep myself honest.

I need to draft more patterns for the clothing.

Inky came running up to me and meowed quite seriously. I apparently wasn’t paying enough attention so she put a paw on my arm and repeated the sounds she had just made. She jumped to the back of the couch and is watching the snow fall now.

I think it is going to be an indoor day.

So I am thinking puppets and laundry today with at least an hour worth of writing to boot. And going to the gym later today.

I am grateful for clear sidewalks.

The Household Gremlins are at it again

We have a house of stuff. We don’t pretend otherwise.

We also have cats, which can make some stuff vanish. Especially since Inky is our knock-it-on-the-floor cat. She actually tried to push this laptop off of the table it was on and figured out that was a bad thing to try plus no leverage.

And I am thinking that the wee folk have had a hand in the latest spate of objects vanishing because they are gone beyond gone. Vanished off the face of the earth kind of gone until they reappear just as mysteriously.

There was a book or short story that I read a very long time ago where little people redrew the world right before you looked. And sometimes they wouldn’t get to quite right until you came back to that point and wonder how the object you had be looking for was right there.

Or it’s the Doctor’s fault. That’s Caroline’s theory at least.

It can be very frustrating when it can take an extra half hour to find the object that one is seeking. I had a glasses incident the other day where it took be 45 minutes to figure out where they were. Peter said I should just get a chain and hang them around my neck. Just might do that so I don’t have to waste almost an hour looking for them.

Then there is the times when I go to where I always put something like a screwdriver and it is not there and no one knows were it is because no one has touched it.

But there is also the feeling of relief as I find that object in time and frustration when I don’t find it in time but replace it only to find the first one. This is how I came to own about half a dozen scissors.

But there is also the finding of the cool stuff that has been hidden. I honestly don’t know how much comic book art we have here but it is a lot. And signed books, we have a lot of signed books.

So I am hoping that the wee folk take a break and let me find what I need to find to get things done over the next couple of days.

I am grateful for things that stay in place.
