A Good day to be Indoors

It is raining off and on. The only plus is the temperature which is rather warm this morning. I really don’t like it when it is cold but not cold enough to snow. That is the weather teasing me. So it is going to be an indoor day.
I have a feeling Caroline will be having recess indoors as well. She loves it since they get to play in the gym which is the only time the kindergarteners are allowed in the gym to play. She slept in today so I am clock watching but trying to give her enough time to do her morning routine without rushing. We packed everything she needed in her backpack last night so that part is done. It is also library day so she needs to return the book she checked out and get a new one or renew this one. She has such a busy day at school.
I think we are going into the city on Saturday to do some window shopping and looking. Caroline hasn’t been in during the holiday season in about two years so I think she will really enjoy this year. I know I want to show her the tree at Rockefeller Center and the windows at Macy’s and a couple of the other stores that have great displays.
I am grateful for things to do indoors.
Last night was Presentation/Speech Night for Brooke’s school. Today is the first (official) day of the Christmas School (Summer holidays). You wouldn’t think it though, it’s 17C here which is about 5C below average for this time of year. Tuesday, it was still 31C at 8pm.
Andy (our 20yo) has decided that he is doing our Christmas cooking this year. Yesteday I supervised him making the steamed fruit puddings, today the fruit Christmas cakes. Much hilarity and mess all over. The house smells of cinnamon, mixed spice, dried fruits and baking.
