My review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azakaban with possible spoilers
Over all I liked this one better than Chamber of Secrets. For one thing, the time flew by. I was surprised at how quickly we moved from scene to seen. I like the director
Actually, the dog was Sirius Black… Lupin was only ever a werewolf…
The one thing I really wished they’d left in was the origins of the Marauder’s Map… it was originally made by Remus Lupin (Moony), Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail), Sirius Black (Padfoot), and James Potter (Prongs) when they were students at Hogwarts…
Absolutely agree with John. I feel it’s important that Harry know the origins of the map… and it would certainly explain to the audience just why Lupin knew what it was and how to activate it.
Kathleen,
I think I may have been more in favor of some of the changes than you. I adored Richard Harris, but the new Dumbledore comes much closer to what I saw in my mind’s eye when I read the books… someone who probably played a few choice pranks in his own day. In fact, the whole film was quite close to my imagining.
And you don’t mention my very favorite addition… Emma Thompson as Trelawney (sp?). She’s the perfect mix of ditz and sincerity.
The visuals are stunning. I’m SO disappointed there’s another new director for the next one! This one’s a keeper for me.
I think the map’s origins might have been explained in a later book?
