Christmas 2020

Posted By on December 25, 2020

Not where I expected to be at the beginning of the year.

If this was a normal year, I would probably be writing this in my parents new digs with a glass of my mom’s egg nog which has ruined all other for me.

We set up our tree and put presents under it. My family knows me so well. I got some really neat gifts from them and my friends. I feel loved.

(For the VI: This is our Christmas tree in a red pot with white lights and various ornaments. Under the tree are presents to the family)

There are things missing. My mother sent me my Christmas cookies much earlier this month. They might get here tomorrow. Various gifts were sent at the beginning of the month that have not arrived but will eventually.

I made eggs benedict that turned out fine. It is a balancing act to get everything ready at the right time. Tonight is steak and bake potato night.

(For the VI: Same tree. Presents have been opened and there a three servings of Eggs Benedict ready for the family)

Today we are going on a movie watching binge. We started with ‘Wolfwalkers’ which was excellent and nice to see that form of animation again. Next is ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ which is proving to be a good popcorn flick. After that we will watch ‘Soul’. To finish off with a Charlie Brown Christmas and Grinch.

Here’s to next year being more normal.

I do feel blessed with my family and friends.

This year did remind more than some other years of why this holiday exists and I am glad for that.

I am grateful for holiday cheer in all its forms.

Happy Solstice with Bonus Planet Action!

This evening a lot of people will be able to see Saturn and Jupiter crossing paths.

Out here, we have less than a 70% chance of seeing it due to cloud cover.

I am looking forward to seeing the photos that people will take of the event.

Today I am working an afternoon shift. I have no idea what I am walking into but I do know what I would like to get done.

I am feeling fatigued right now. Trying to keep up and get ahead are things that are weighing on me.

This, along with sleep being a bit illusive, leads to tired Kath.

But I will pull it from somewhere and move forward.

I am grateful for cosmic events.

Six more shopping days before Christmas 2020

And I am working every one of them.

I will say that what we have coming into the store is useful as gifts for the artist within. There is also new organizational items and work from home décor that are really nice.

Tomorrow is truck day for me. Once we off load the truck, I will be putting framing away. It is good exercise.

I am done shopping for us and everything is wrapped. Presents that I needed to send out are done. I am ahead of the game this year.

We still need to trim the tree. It is started but I want to get it complete by tomorrow evening.

I had an allergy attack yesterday and felt like I sneezed myself into next week. The rest of the evening I had tears streaming down my face and my nose was running a marathon. This morning is better. I might use some Sudafed to stop the nose from pouring into my mask as I work.

Today is bone chilling cold. It will juuust get above freezing for a couple of hours.

I have an idea for something I want to do. Just need to see if I can execute it before Friday.

I am grateful for things that help my allergies.

Ice Breakers

Eventually the snow stopped, and we got out to clear our steps.

This is where good neighbors are worth their weight in gold. One neighbor took his snow blower and got the driveway clear. Another neighbor took care of the rest of the walk after I had gotten about half way down the walk.

The issue was that the bottom of this mess was solid ice which made it very heavy and you had to break it up into pieces and be very careful to not throw your back out or break your shovel due to the weight.

On the plus side, I know that all the walking and exercising I have been doing paid off so I could get my steps clear.

Today I have a punch list of things I want to do and things I need to do.

Tomorrow and until Christmas, I have work. I do have Boxing Day off. Then we are into the post Christmas and pre New Years sales.

Please be safe and wear your mask correctly.

I am grateful for good neighbors with working snow blowers.

More snow in one storm than all of last winter

Posted By on December 17, 2020

When a Nor’easter is a snowstorm, we have white out conditions.

It is still snowing sideways this morning as the wind is blowing the snow all over the place.

Caroline and I looked out and said we would wait until it stopped snowing before tackling anything. It will be a substitute for our daily walk.

We have gotten in less than twenty-four more snow than we did all last winter.

Sure makes it easy to socially distance since we can’t really do anywhere.

I have discovered that the behind the ear masks do not work for me long term. Especially at work since I have a radio ear-piece in one ear and my glasses. I am glad I made myself some masks that don’t go over the ear.

Today and tomorrow is cleaning and getting ready for Christmas. We have the tree so we are going to trim it today.

I have tomorrow off then six days of work. It’s all good.

I am grateful for things that take snow away.
