No Strings Attached

So I know one of the things I am going to do today is get the holiday lights back into their tub for the year. And since it is going to be in the 40s, it will be a good day to do it.

I find if I am at a loss for a title for these essays, I can go to the web and put in the date finding a myriad of things that the day represents, including Birthdays and anniversaries of famous events.

Today is mostly going to be a clean up around the house day. There are several things I want to get finished before I launch into my next project. I do want to get some stuff done before Farpoint in February.

I may move Crafty Tuesday to Thursday this year or I may not, either way expect that to start back up this week if you are a consistent reader.

I watched or listen to all of the NFL playoff games this past weekend. Some of the calls were really off but in only one case did it lose the team the game. I am hoping for better officiating for the divisional playoffs next weekend.

We enjoyed Galavant and will be watching it next week. Not perfect but what is? The songs were fun and the lyrics were a riot.

I am grateful for understanding in difficult situations.

In that time we switched gears and years.

Yesterday Caroline and I went to New York City for a Mommy and Daughter day.

We did a lot of walking around New York looking at the Holiday decorations. All the windows on 5th Ave and Macy’s were still there. The tree was still at Rockefeller Center. The advantage was that we could get to things and see them.

Over all a nice trip. It was cold but not fringed. The wind was not constant. We could, for the most part, walk at our own pace.

A lot of tour groups going through Time Square yesterday. I helped some Germans with the subway and how to get a couple of places. Felt like a real New Yorker.

Looked at some of our favorite fabric stores but didn’t buy anything. Have some swatches for future projects. There are two new spangle and spandex shops neither of which I checked out since we were hungry.

We went to John’s pizzeria on West 44th across from Phantom of the Opera for lunch. The twenty minute wait wasn’t too bad considered the packed room we walked into. Caroline declares it her favorite pizza place in New York City.

Travel to and from wasn’t too bad. The trains were running on time. No loud music just lots of conversations. Oh and Sally, if you are reading this, you really should dump your boyfriend because he is an abusive loser based on the conversation you had on the cell phone to your besty. Yes, we all heard about it and the test.

So nice trip into the city. Pleasant day with my daughter. All in all a win/win.

I am grateful that we know how to get around New York City.

(First time write or typing 2015)

We spend a quiet evening at a friend’s house welcoming the New Year with good food and pleasant conversation. We hadn’t seen each other in a while so there was a lot of catching up on various things that have gone on in our lives. We walked there and home avoiding the whole driving issue.

Through another friend of mine, I read about something to do rather than a resolution which they are calling Rememberlutions where you put things that you proud of during the year and open it up at year’s end so you can see all the good things that happened during the year. I think I am going to make one or figure out another way to do the same thing.

I hope that 2015 is better to you than 2014.

I am grateful that 2015 is starting.

Being the last day of 2014.

I thought about doing a photo essay of this past year. I have the photos ready to go but decided just to put up a few that really meant something to me this year. Some of these are repeats from this blog but still.

I am putting the photos behind a cut so this doesn’t get too big.

This would be a Random Thoughts Before the Coffee Kicks In but I have had half a cup and a decent night’s sleep so I am awake.

I ran through my blog from the past year to see if anything leapt out at me. We did a lot of conventions. And I had a number of friends around my age or younger pass away this past year.

I made puppets and wish I had made more. Still have some commissioned pieces on the docket. Might want to get started on those sooner rather than later.

I got some writing done and helped out with some other projects Peter and I have been working on. I would like to get more written and sold.

Overall it was not a horrid year. Felt a lot more stable since the beginning of 2013 found Peter going from hospital to rehab and we hadn’t a clue what condition he was going to be in when he got out.

Caroline is doing well. She has adjusted to middle school and enjoys it more than elementary school. More of a challenge for her.

Ariel graduated from Sacred Heart University with a master’s in education. She moved to Knoxville and is now engaged.

Gwen is doing well. She continues to keep herself busy working on various projects that she is interested in and she still loves her job at the museum.

Shana’s theater expanded to two screens this year. They are doing pretty well. They have been able to hire more full time and part time workers. They have had some rather interesting programs come through their venue.

Peter wrote and wrote and wrote. Since that is what he loves to do, then it is not a bad thing.

I had both successes and failures. On the whole I did pretty well considering what was going on.

I am ready to put this year in the books and move onto the next one.

I am grateful for all the good things this year has provided me.
