SuperB Owl 2018

Posted By on February 4, 2018

This is a rare one that I really don’t care who wins. What I do know is that there is going to be a bunch of hooligans in Philly that will destroy something after the game. I think the SNL sketch last night summed up the game nicely.

Yesterday was fun. The Michelangelo exhibit was fascinating but really crowded. I was amazed at the detail in his drawings. It was also nice to see what he looked like. We spent the rest of the time looking at other galleries and I got to show Caroline some of my favorite painting in the Met collection.

Today we are going to work on Caroline’s costume and getting some other projects off the ground.

Pete will be live blogging the commercials starting at 6:00 pm here. Come on by and comment.

I am grateful for interesting exhibits I can get to see.

Winter is here

Or rather those really low temperatures with wind are back for a couple of days. We are skirting that fine line between rain and snow. If the temperatures stay as predicted, we get rain. A few degrees lower and we will get snow.

Today we are going into the city to view art and see family.

Tomorrow we plan to stay home and work on a couple of projects that need to be done.

Here is how I know it is really cold outside, my coffee goes from hot to warm in less than 10 minutes.

I have no dog in the Superb Owl Hunt. Can they both lose? It’s been fun listening to the sports pundits try to make news out of nothing. The biggest story seems to be that the league is going to revisit and revise what is a catch after some really bad calls that were to the letter of the current wording but would have clearly been touchdowns in years past. A number of those cost teams rather critical games. Also apparently the Ref who uses index cards and other props in his calls is going to be on the field. Great another Showboater as if the End-zone celebrations haven’t slowed the game down enough.

I don’t know why it is considered news that an actor is either a sweetheart and easy to work with or a PITA and hard to work with. There is a middle ground in this and that’s not news. Actors do get reputations and they stick with them. Also something said within hearing of the paparazzi when they are having a bad day is not their entire character.

The cats are talking to each other with ‘brrrrr’ sounds rather than meows. Sounds like they are whispering to each other in an odd way. Then they went to their usual nap places and went to sleep. I have no idea what that confab was about.

I am grateful for the cats continuing to amuse and surprise me.

Groundhog Day 2018

I can believe we have six more weeks of winter due to the artic blast that came through the house when I opened the front door to get the mail.

Saturday Caroline and I are going to go see the Michelangelo exhibit at the Met. Peter is going to spend some time with Gwen. He is moving well enough that he doesn’t need support (cane or walker or person) but he really can’t push it for long periods of time without suffering set backs.

Sunday is the Superb Owl on NBC which we will be watching and Peter will be blogging the commercials. I have planned out the menu and the oven schedule. I need to shop for a couple of items and we will be ready.

A week from now we will be on our way to Farpoint which is one of our regular conventions where Caroline has friends to hang with as do Peter and I which we are all looking forward to.

A week from Monday we will be watching the Black Panther at the friends and family screening.

For such a short month, we have a lot going on.

I am grateful for the lack of snow that dropped on to our lawn in that last storm.

And February Begins

Since it is the shortest month of the year, I am going to try to blog once a day for the month. Not going to make any promises but I will try.

A couple years ago I had finished all the bodies I needed for the Sherlock/Watson sets. This year I have nothing to show. I have ideas but no concrete objects to show. Not that I can anyway because I still can’t figure out a site that will allow me to show pictures on my blog that isn’t going to cost me $120 a year.

Today is very overcast both outside and inside me. I have hit the bad sleep patch that seems to be part of my yearly sleep cycle. Not that I can say that any part of the year is totally spiffy but some are worse than others. I recognize that I am in a depressive phase and need to work my way out of it.

I have a rant about reclaiming the word “Intellectual” but I am still mulling it over to figure out the best way to present it.

Farpoint is a week from tomorrow. I need to start getting us ready to go to the convention. I have to gather books and the like to sell on Friday. I have to prepare for the panels I will be on. Yes, I do prep to talk on panels.

Also I still have that cute idea I would like to execute before Farpoint. I have most of the materials needed just have to pattern and sew.

Motivation is not my friend right now as in we have seemed to have parted ways. And panic is not doing it for me right now. Not the best place to be in. But I promised myself I would be honest about this sort of stuff especially since I hope this helps someone else who may be beating themselves up due to a depressive episode. I know when I have put up previous behaviors I have at least one person tell me that it helped them.

Today I am going to try to do better and tomorrow better than that. If I can get the rock to the top of the hill and not have it roll down again, it will be fine.

I am grateful when I find out that I have helped someone.

Last day of January 2018 all ready?!?!?!?

Posted By on January 31, 2018

I swear it was just January 4th.

I did see the Super Blue Blood Moon this morning or what I could see from my area. It was really pretty/eerie. I know that my friends on the west coast got a better show but I enjoyed what I saw.

Yesterday I had to deal with 4 inches of snow that was originally just suppose to be a dusting to an inch. I am lucky that I have good neighbors who brought over their snow blower and took care of our walk and the front of the driveway where the plows dumped the snow. My one regret is that I didn’t cover the car the night before. It took forever to get the snow off the top. Others didn’t think it was necessary as long as they could see so I had to dodge snow bombs while driving.

Caroline was chosen to be on the team going to regionals in her robot league. I am very proud of her. She is thriving and learning at her school. She is anxiously waiting for her report card to arrive.

Peter is walking without a cane, which is a big step. His pain is minor which is another big step. We’ll take each and be grateful. He can sit up again with only minor discomfort. He finally seems on the path to getting himself back.

I have an idea for something I want to show at Farpoint. Let’s see if I can produce it. It’s based on a Tumblr meme.

Short time with a lot to do.

I am grateful for help in clearing the snow.
