We are on the road trying to get to Baltimore with minimal delays. We started out and within 5 minutes we were informed by our GPS that we had 35 min of delay on our route. Thus starts the trip and sorting out how we can avoid the delay.
It use to be that we would use 1010 and maps to find our way around the traffic. Now we have our GPS and my iPad to see what is happening on the roads around us. We still listen to 1010 to get further info.
I am typing this while we are on the road. My iPad has a keyboard that I can use. It amazes me how far technology has come. We use to call the first portable computer my parents bought “the luggable” because it was the size of a small suitcase. Now I can carry it in my hand like a book.
I like that I have LEDs with small battery packs I can buy rather than building the whole rig from scratch. I love EL wire and the various things I have come up to do with it. Now there is actual fabric that you can program for patterns and shapes. I foresee someone doing an excellent Rorschach mask in the near future.
I will admit to being a bit of a tech junkie. I love finding new tech that I can use in puppets and costumes.
My knee popped out of place while I bowling last night. I managed to snap it back in which hurt a lot. I have to be careful not to twist it as I really do no enjoy that kind of pain. We have a cane and crutches for me to use if I need to. I have two braces depending on what form of support I need. And thank you Lord for Advil.
This is the first time in a while I am not bringing any puppets with me. With the bad knee I very well may be finding myself on crutches which is not conducive to operating a puppet. So I will be more to talking to people about puppets over the weekend.
I am looking forward to seeing friends I have made over the years at these conventions. I wasn’t really thinking about that part until today.
I am grateful that I can post while literarily on the road.

That can be a long day/list to do depending on what we have agreed to do.
Today I have a list of things that must be done before we can leave. I have slotted out my time to get these things done before we leave. Let’s see if I can stay on schedule since I am already a bit behind here.
If I can get things to a point, then this will work and I will not feel like I am so far behind that I will never catch up. If not, then I will be wondering what we forgot the entire weekend.
Right now the van cover is in the back of the van. I need to remove that so I can put stuff in the van, which will be happening over the day so that all the various things we need are packed and ready to go. Then tomorrow we pack the last couple of items and head on down to Maryland for the weekend.
But to do that, I need to finish the laundry and make sure we have all the medications and the like ready to go. There are books to pack along with puppets and costumes. I am debating about bringing 12 or not. Caroline needs her art supplies and there will be that one backpack that is hers to fill as she sees fit.
So that’s the day. Now let’s see what I can get done in the next 24 hours.
I am grateful for things that help me get other things under control.

In less than five minutes I have watched the precipitation outside go from ice to snow to rain. Reminds me of an old joke about Seattle, “Don’t like the weather right now? Wait five minutes. It will change.”
Rain is the preferred form of precipitation right now. Cold and wet is better than snow and digging out the next two days.
Yesterday Caroline and I got the materials for the rest of the costume she wants to wear at Farpoint. Now it is a matter of finishing the construction on the jacket and making a bunny mask out of paper plates.
I am glad I took care of the cat boxes yesterday when it was cold but not wet.
And it has shifted back to snow as I am typing this. I am betting it is going to go back to rain very shortly. Makes for interesting window viewing. Really hoping the ice is done.
Cats have picked their warm areas and settled down for their morning naps.
Today is about sewing and tomorrow is about packing. Friday is travel. Saturday and Sunday is Farpoint. Monday is about Black Panther. And that is as far as I am going to think right now.
I am grateful for weather that amuses me.

But first Caroline’s costume for Farpoint.
The order as it stands for things I need/want to do are
1) Caroline’s costume #1
2) The Otter and the Hedgehog
3) Secret Project #1
4) Fix the 6th Doctor puppet for reasons I will go into later
5) Disheveled Norrington puppet from Pirates of the Caribbean
6) Caroline’s costume #2
7) DragonCon Art show pieces
8) DragonCon puppet show pieces ( and it’s a big one)
9) Caroline’s costume #3
I am sure that something will crop up in there adding to the list since it always seems to do so but that should be this year’s list.
I might add a Black Panther to the list but not quite yet. I need to see the movie first.
I am grateful for ideas that make me laugh.

Working out the day and how I am going to get from point A to point B.
Feels like a check box kind of list day to show myself that I am making progress.
Eagles won amazingly enough because it looked like the Pats were going to pull off the same stunt they pulled with the Falcons. I am really interested in what the revise to what is a catch and what is not a catch rules are going to be. Other than that, not much more to say about this season of Football.
Inky and Mewlan seem to have sorted out their differences. I find them grooming each other rather than fighting. Unless they have some disagreement and then they do go at it. No one has gotten hurt so far but the kitty pecking order is not as solid as I thought it was.
It’s OK to fall out of love with a fandom even if it is one you have been in for a long time. Things change. We change. Those fandoms will always mean something to you but maybe not as much as they did back in the day. One is not a ‘bad’ fan for deciding that fandom is not their cuppa anymore.
Going to take a long term view on a couple of things and wait and see which way the wind is blowing.
Still need to kill Glenn or rather write the story of his demise.
I need to finish something else first. I might give that a go later today.
Also cat boxes need to be cleaned.
But first the kitchen needs a going over since we snacked our way through the Super Bowl and there is salsa dried to the plates. I really do need a new dishwasher.
I am grateful to that which moves us forward.
