Peter and I are on a team in a bowling league with another couple we have known for years. Wednesday evening is our bowling night.
It looks like snow outside but I know that the clouds are deceptive.
Cats are having a territorial dispute over the couch. I am letting them sort it out unless it gets bloody. Right now there is a lot of posturing and hissing but very few swipes. Inky is holding her own which is unusual since she tends to avoid conflict.
I think that the weekends are hard to write on here than the weekdays. I don’t have the time I have during the week.
I am grateful for my brain to work even if it feels like it is in a fog.

There are two words that are used for when you feel you are most productive which are flow and zone. Flow being that the work is moving forward effortlessly or with less effort than usual and Zone being that time when you can do no wrong or at least get all your seams right.
When I am in that state the world vanished and I am working my way to the end of a project. There is just me and the project. My brain clicks along and problem solves like a champ.
It is nice when there is nothing but you and your work. It is why when I take a workshop I can get so much done because that is all I am doing. Time flies by.
I have been trying to do the same thing with other things in my life. I can get in the Zone at the gym pretty easily after a lot of going to the gym. I go in and the world vanishes until I am done with what I want to do.
I can get into the flow when cleaning. If I can get into the zone, I am a whirlwind. If not then it feels like I am pulling teeth but I know it needs to be done.
Never got into the zone with a video game but I have watched others do so.
I like it when the time flies by and the task gets done.
Recently I have experienced neither flow nor zone for many reasons and I have been trying to get myself back to that point. I missed that feeling a lot.
I am grateful for those times when things just click and I can get stuff done.

Sort of like Random Thoughts before the Coffee kicks in but I have had coffee and it is Monday.
Currently Mewlan’s favorite cat toy is a grape stem. I am going to have to take it away soon but right now she is having a blast. I think she will go back to hunting a piece of fun fur that looks like a small rodent.
I know what I want to get done this week before the next weekend. January is moving fast.
One thing is getting my website up and running so I can have a flyer at Farpoint. I also want to do one for the family Patreon account again for the year.
Then there are the puppets that need to be sewn. However I have to find a part to my sewing machine that one of the cats managed to pull off. Or I have to buy a replacement for the part and I am stymied until I get it. That’s part of today to see if I can find this part (It is the cap that holds the thread onto the spindle so you can sew.
Everyone seems to be taken with this program on de-cluttering and a number are trying to clear their space. I watched an episode and was not impressed with it. Also 30 books? What the? Sorry that won’t fly around here. First off Peter has written more than 30 books. I have more than 30 puppetry books that are relevant to my work. Not to mention the books signed to us over the years. I am a big re-reader. There are some books that I read for comfort or to remind me of something that means a lot to me.
Another suggestions was to get rid of all your DVDS and Cds because this stuff is all on line so why have a physical copy? First off not everything is on the internet. Second I don’t feel like paying again for things I own so I have a digital copy. Streaming services are fickle and things they have one month, they don’t the next. I have an eclectic CD collection which is not on Itunes or another music service. Again I don’t want to pay twice for something I already own.
There are things I can do including culling our t-shirt collection. Caroline has been doing that with hers on her own. I think I am going to bring a bunch of t-shirts to just give away at Farpoint because we are not going to wear them so someone should.
I am grateful for organizational tips that work.

Batton Lash passed away due to brain cancer. Batton has rightfully been described at the gentleman of comics. He was always dressed dapperly. He was very giving of his time and knowledge to newer people in the industry. I enjoyed the conversations we had at various comic book conventions. My sympathies to his wife Jackie Estrada and his family and friends. He will be missed by many of us in the industry.
We are avoiding the first round of snow this year in the Northeast. It passed below us and hit Baltimore, Washington DC and I believe Philadelphia with some of it in New Jersey. There is another front that is currently forecast to drop snow on us for about a week but I will believe that when we get closer to that event next week. Whatever falls is going to stick due to the freezing temperatures of this week.
I have a list of things I need to do and things I want to do. I am taking today to regroup and then onto the lists on Monday. I am finally over this cold/flu thing and my energy levels are approaching normal which means it was viral not bacterial in nature.
Farpoint is rapidly moving towards us. I have a couple of things I need to do before that show.
I am grateful for cats to warm my feet.

The holiday season behind us or as Caroline calls December the month of presents is over.
Now with a new year we get back into our routines. This week is the first week in a while that Caroline has a five day school week. Next week is the same and then she has mid-terms for a week, which is also the snow week as we are calling it right now.
There are some weather patterns that may or may not dump snow in the area. Sunday was considered one of these but is now out of the picture for us as the front looks like it is moving north of us. Next weekend we are getting rain that is moving to snow and will be off and on until the following Friday. But again this could skip north or south of us and we just get more of the cold and wind that we currently are experiencing.
Today is laundry and larder. Not a big shop but we do need some things around the house especially perishables. Fruits, vegetables, and milk. We have bread and eggs and toilet paper so we are ready with our French toast kit. I also want to go to the fish store I trust and get some salmon.
I don’t think I am going to be buying Romaine lettuce any time soon.
I also need to go to the fabric store and start figuring out how I am making a puppet. I think I am going to be haunting the remnants section for what I need especially for the coat. Also I have some really good coupons.
Winter has arrived with the wind and cold that can chill you to the bone. I think I am done with my crocs outside of the house and back to my sneakers for the season. I have pulled out my heavier coat and gloves. Need to find my favorite scarf.
One foot in front of the other and one project in front of the other.
Keep moving forward is my motto this week and the next.
I am grateful for produce I can trust.
