Conventional Wisdom So Many Conventions So Little Time

Posted By on January 21, 2015

Peter receives a lot of invites to attend conventions. If he wanted to, he could pretty much go to a convention a weekend. We have limits on the number of conventions we go to just for the sanity of the family.

We enjoy going to conventions but for us it is part of the job rather than a leisure time activity or a vacation.

Don’t get me wrong, we have a lot of fun at conventions and we still enjoy it. Caroline loves them.

There are certain conventions that we go to every year. These are the ones that we know people and they know us. Caroline can wander around because she grew up at these conventions.

She knows the rules are different at conventions that we are attending for the first time.

We get the lay of the land when we arrive. Knowing where the bathrooms are is important and what food is available at convention centers. Also for the first day watching the flow of traffic and when things are crowded is important. By the end of the convention we have a good feel for it and whether we will be recommending it to our friends.

Getting home always seems almost more of an adventure than getting there.

I am grateful for all the good conventions we have been to.

Someday soon, someone is going to invent the Monday-Wednesday Con, and you truly will be able to just go from one to another to another.
