Crafty Tuesday: Need your Help and Input

Posted By on January 28, 2014

I am drawing a creative blank of what to talk about.

I don’t have any in-progress pictures to show of things I am working on since it is all in my head right now.

So I am opening this to questions. What do you want to ask me about?

I can talk about pricing for art shows, how I make stuff, the history of puppetry from a creative POV, costuming both amateur and professional, learning to make dolls from Wendy Froud, building puppets, copyright, and all kinds of other crafty topics.

What do you think might sell at current conventions as puppets? Fandoms and the like.

But right now I feel a little in a vacuum.

I know I owe the puppet rod tutorial and once we get out of the deep freeze and I can go back to my workshop, I’ll do it.

So what do you want to know?

I am grateful for input.

I’m planning a kids’ show about jobs. My two main characters are going to be a gopher and a hamster, along with the hamster’s sentient tablet and a chirpy 3D printer. I’m of two minds as to handle the mouths, whether to have them as part of the puppets or composite animated mouth in post. Do you think the audience would react better to one or the other?

    Just found this Sean,

Because of things like Mad and Robot Chicken, the composite animated mouth is not as off-putting as it once was.

I think it comes down to which is easier for you to deal with since both are acceptable forms of expression.
