What has been going on for the past couple of days

Posted By on June 26, 2010

OK short version of both the radio silence and some rather cryptic comments from me.

Peter had back surgery yesterday. He’s fine. It was not life threatening more quality of life threatening. It was the best way to deal with the problem he had.

It was done on an outpatient basis at a local (well relatively local. The Hospital was in Nassau and we live in Suffolk) hospital. He came home last night and is recovering.

Surgery is Surgery. There is pain afterwards that needs to be dealt with and we are doing what we can to make him comfortable and give his body some time to recover from the trauma of being cut open.

Right now we are going to be at Shoreleave. That might change but that is the current plan. Which means I have 11 days to get Caroline’s costume done and assemble some stuff for the art show (if there is still space). But I am not going to push anything right now because my focus has to be on Peter and the girls.

So that’s what has been happening. Good thoughts, prayers, energy etc. is gratefully accepted.

I am grateful for surgery that relieves pain.

I’m very glad to hear it went well. My dad was supposed to have spinal surgery on Monday (for severe spinal stenosis) — it was very definitely a quality-of-life issue in many ways. Unfortunately, for a couple of reasons the surgery was postponed, but with luck it’ll be in a couple of weeks and will go well.

Best wishes to Peter for a speedy recovery, and to you for hanging in with all the attendant concerns surrounding it!

My very best hopes to both of you for a speedy recovery and a successful result! One thing that surprised me after I had surgery was how long it took me to recover. My surgery was relatively minor, and I expected to be my old self after a couple days. Instead, it took me a month to get all my strength back. It really, really hammered home for me that my body does not want me to cut holes in it, no matter if I tell it that they’re minor and for it’s own good. My body will sulk.

Let me be one more sending love, prayers, and best wishes to Peter and the Davids around him.
