Patrick McGoohan has passed on after a short illness.
The Prisoner is a series that has shaped my life in ways that I can’t even imagine. For years I thought the image of the Rover and other odd visuals was just a bizarre dream that I had as a child until my parents informed me that no, that was a TV series that I saw when I was child.
He was describe by a friend of mine who worked with him as an actor’s actor and I have to agree.
I always enjoyed his performances and I am sadden at his passing.
Maybe he was lucky, in a way – AMC’s “updated” version of “The Prisoner” starts soon…
I have a bad feeling about that, Chewie.
(I didn’t notice your mention of a friend who worked with him over at Peter’s blog – was that F. Gwynplaine MacIntyer, who i mentioned in a reply?)
Some day I’d like to go back and rewatch the series. It ran here at 11 pm on PBS, which was our fuzziest, most unreliable channel, and I watched it on my 5-inch B&W, so my memories of it are probably even more strange than it actually was. Still, it left a lasting impression, and I’m sad at the passing of another era.
