Sunny Day Keeping the Clouds Away

We have a lovely blue sky this morning and with that sky comes a lot of wind. I have to double check the property this morning. I don’t think we have anything out since the last set of wind storms but it never hurts to double check.
I also have Caroline’s gloves and hat ready to go since I want to keep her little hands and ears from chapping. My hands are a lost cause this year even with hand lotion. I also have some mysterious scratched across the top of my right wrist which is the second time they have appeared in the same place so I am scraping it across something.
I got the interior bag of the beanbags done so now I need to cover them and that project will be done.
Has anyone else who has used a Neti pot found that one side is easier to do than the other or is my nose that strange?
I want to get to some of my library books today to see if I can find a way to do a project that I have seen before but I think I know a way to improve on it.
I have seen online a lot of talk about this new bill that, as written, is a total disaster for small businesses, home businesses, vintage clothing and toy sales, E-Bay, and Esty to name a few. It is a bill that becomes law February 10th 2009 that was created in reaction to the lead found in and on toys for children that were made in China. The problem is that the bill is entirely too vague in its wording and, given a strict interpretation, would lead to product testing on everything that anyone wants to sell (new or old) to a family with children. Yes, it is that bad. I have done a lot of reading from various sites and news stories and this is not the crafts industry playing the part of Chicken Little. For them (and me) the sky is falling unless something is done.
I can label my product as not for children until the cows come home but as long as there are children in the house, if my product goes there without being tested I am breaking the law. This could be a real problem for many people who are making not much money for handmade goods and for charities who run thrift stores. I would like you to write your Congressman and Senator about the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act which really isn’t improving anything at all but could destroy the lively-hood of a lot of small businesses and crafters.

i hadn’t heard about that new law…lets hope that things will change. Its just insane that private individuals who make things and sell one on one should have such a hassle!
The main reason i’m writing though is something to try on Caoline’s hands. Have you tried Silicone Glove from Avon? my hands get so bad that i get deep cracks that bleed and this is one of the few things that helps. You can get it in big tubes to keep around the house, but they also have it in cute little tubes for 99cents.

They do sell little testing sticks for lead – meant mainly for checking dishes with questionable ceramic glazes. A swipe, and it changes color if lead is present. Perhaps that’s a quick temporary loophole. It doesn’t help fabric items, however. I will now keep copies of my materials labels to show proof of non-toxicity, like we have to do at work.
Fine and dandy, my ragdolls must be lead-free. But what is the Gov’t doing about the fact that children’s vitamins, such as Gummi Vites, nd other FDA-unregulated children’s products, contain small amounts of lead???
