Caroline’s First Day at School
Posted By Kathleen David on September 5, 2008
Had to start with an adventure. Her bus didn’t make the turn and one of the other father’s called the school to report it. So we had to take her to the school and she was a few minutes late for her first day. The bus did drop her off at the right stop coming home.
She enjoyed it a lot. She told us that she played on the playground and in the classroom. She drew and colored. She ate lunch. She had a good time and wanted to go back the next day. Which, we informed her, was a good thing because she had school today.
We had to re-arrange some parts of her previous regular schedule including her bath moving to the evening rather than in the morning. She went to bed on time and got up in plenty of time to get ready for school.
This morning the bus picked her up in plenty of time for school. She bounced onto the bus and sat down. She waved to me and is off to school.
I am grateful that she had a good first day.
Smart little me, I didn’t realize in the last thread that you’d already posted about the first day.
Drawing, coloring, the playground and lunch: the four basic “food groups” of kindergarten. 🙂
Sounds like she had a great time; I’m glad!

This gives me a slight tear in my eye recalling my two daughters first school days 20 years ago! This is the start of a grand adventure that will lead to them leaving for college all to soon. Cherish every day, but encourage their independence! The greatest gift we give them is to be able to care for themselves without us.
I just sent my three year old to her first day of preschool and it was the hardest for me. By the way I was reading some of your old blogs becasue they can come in a internet search. Do you still know how to make the Boots costume. I have a major dilemma and can not find him anywhere
