Where do I start this Tale?

Posted By on April 21, 2008

I will start with Thank you to everyone for your kind wishes and thoughts for me. I really appreciate it.

Wow. NYCC has gotten to the point of sensory overload that I had always felt for San Diego Comic Con and they got there in three years. SDCC is still bigger but NYCC had come a long way in a short time.

Barbara Kessel and I were talking about the fact that the owners of the convention pay attention to what works and doesn’t work from year to year and make improvements rather than just let it slide because it is just a bunch of fans and they are use to being treated that way. I am sure there will be some more changes implemented next year to make it even more wonderful for the fans. There are a couple things they have no control over like that fact that the ATMs seemed to have fans of their own with lines longer to get to the machine than there was to get to some of the talent. And there are a few rules that are venue rules rather than convention rules that they can’t change

Overall the fans seem to be having lots of fun. There was defiantly a lot to do and see. Everyone who visited the table in artist alley, I want to thank you. Y’all were a great group of people to met and talk to. For all the people who gave me a face to put with a name or Internet name, it was nice to meet you in person. For everyone who bought artwork from Caroline (more on that later), I appreciate it. She took her earnings and spent it at the Mattel Booth on Hot Wheels cars based on the Pixar movie Cars.

I got to see a lot of the convention because Caroline was willing to settle in at Peter’s table and earn loot. She was drawing pictures of a waterhorse which is based on the film “The Waterhorse”. We recently got her a small toy based on the film which she loves dearly. And she has been drawing her version of the critter. So she took the other chair at the table and set herself up to draw waterhorses which she would encourage people to buy from her. She is a really good salesman and by the end of Saturday had earned $32.00. She doesn’t quite have the idea of her signature down yet so everyone who asked her to sign got a bunch of random letters. I’m sure some people took her picture and if you happen to, I’d love to see it.

More on this either later today or tomorrow.

I also know that I need to put up a New Who Review for “Voyage of the Ðámņëd”.

I am grateful for everyone who bought a drawing from Caroline.

Glad you are feeling better. I wish I could be at one of your “family” cons. Sounds like you all had a lot of fun.

Did you see the series finale for Torchwood? I cried…..

I meant series in the UK way, as in season finale for series 2. Keeping fingers crossed for a next season. There’s no green light yet from what I’ve read.

Glad everything was no where near as bad as it could have been.

So, Caroline’s following in Ariel’s footsteps with the con drawings. Hope she’s at Dragon*Con this year, so I can add to my collection of art by David children.

y’know, i didn’t even know you’d been in an accident till after we met saturday?
somehow saying “glad you’re okay” seems….odd?

anyway – the meeting was a pleasure – Boris and I loved meeting you and the Doctor. I’ve sent copies of the pictures thru Peter.

Walter Simonson, Louise Simonson, Neal Adams, Nick Cardy, Mike McKone, John Bagdanove, and Joe Kelly all joined the picture with a puppet club as well, also lots of cousmed types.

    thanks again, agian a pleasure

If your neck gets really bad, either soak your feet in warm water or massage your feet right at the base of your big toe. In case you(or anybody else reading this) thinks I’m some kind of nut with a foot fetish, all your nerve endings are in your feet. That’s why a good foot rub relaxes your whole body. Geez, never did see you guys over at Artist Alley.. the only time i was there i was running (well…walking a bit faster than a snail) trying to get food for someone at one of the tables.

I was there open til close each day and think i’m still in a bit of over kill. I KNOW I didn’t see everything! (I never found the publisher with the Star Trek books…all i was told is ‘make sure you go to the booth with the Star Trek books’ but never the name of the booth!

Didn’t get to meet Caroline, but Ariel and i had a good chat while waiting in line over at the Emily the Strange booth. (yep, I’m the Rescue Kitty chick). When i get rested up I’m going to try your suggestion on making him into a sort of glove puppet.

The only thing i didn’t like is that they started Doctor Who sooooo late that those of us who had to run to the PA to catch a bus home barely got to see 10 minutes of it. (so if you noticed a chick in the front zipping out with a red wheeled backpack I hope i didn’t get in anybody’s siteline. I was really looking forward to seeing it on the big screen!) How was it??? This year i brought both MinTens for my Fri night ‘date’. (and this year neither of them even had the chance to get out and get their picture taken with anyone!)
I guess you guys should be thankfull of that;)
