I love my iBook. Really I Do but…

Posted By on May 28, 2007

BUT the fracking video card went AGAIN!!!!

So I have no working screen and no working computer.

And the total suck on this (with a big SORRY to Keith) my Doctor Who story is on the hard drive and no where else.

I haven’t a clue when I am going to or if I CAN get it fixed.

Off to our local Apple Store todayto find out.

AAARRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

*Sigh* and things were going so well….

I am grateful that I had done a photo back-up the other day.

  1. Ideally, the Apple Store people should mention this, but if not…

If you have access to another Mac with a Firewire port, you can restart the iBook while holding down the “t” key to boot it into “Firewire Disk Mode,” which basically transforms it into a very expensive external harddrive. Then you can connect it to the other Mac with a Firewire cable, and take whatever you want off the iBook’s internal drive. Voilà, one rescued story.

If you don’t have another Mac, I expect you could ask the Apple Store people to do it before they begin surgery, and then e-mail it to an account you can access on another computer.
