New Who Review for Satan’s Pit

Posted By on December 4, 2006

Second part of the story with lots of interesting stuff about belief, religion, and the beginning of the world. What you believe and who you believe and believe in is very much a part of this episode. It did go off in some strange directions and there was what I call a Deus Ex TARDIS sort of thing at the end of the day but not a bad episode over all. YeLove & Monsters an episode that most Doctor Who fans have a passionate opinion about. Personally I enjoyed the heck out of it.

I was a bit worried about this 2 parter when I heard that the devil was the plot, but I enjoyed it immensely. Of course, I’ve enjoyed most of the episodes. I agree, Rose took total charge, and was the mail reason most of them survived. Too bad about the security officer, I liked him best of all.

I really liked the ‘Ood’ aliens-they were very interesting looking. And, I was very intrigued by the mention of the ‘Torchwood Archive.’ These archives must not be too complete, or maybe they’re VERY complete (meaning there’s a lot of info on file) that they didn’t know who the Doctor was? (Oops, no pun intended! )

    Oops! Main, NOT mail!

What I don’t understand is why they didn’t call the character Sutekh to try and tie it more to the Tom Baker era. Or, for that matter, why they didn’t use the term “Block Transfer Equations” in the Sarah Jane episode.

I thought this was a great two-parter, probably the best two-parter the new series has done so far, in terms of overall acting, story, etc.
