Does anyone else have a cat that chews its nails/claws? Mine does and it looks so weird when he does it.

So has anyone else seen Nightmare before Christmas in 3-D? I noticed something that I have missed from lots of viewings in “2-D”. When Zero and Jack are out in the woods right before he finds Christmastown, Jack reaches into his coat and pulls out one of his rib bones for Zero to fetch. Overall I found that the process brought forth that fact that the film was stop motion animation. I am really looking forward to “Meet the Robinsons” which will be the first film made for general distribution.

Sometimes when you look at your children do you ever think you know what they might do when they grow up? I have had a couple of instances in the past couple of days where I think I might be looking at the future.

Caroline came down from her room Saturday and Ariel shrieked for us to get in the living room. Ariel though that Caroline had some how cut her throat. It turns out that Caroline got into Ariel’s make-up specifically some red lip gloss and managed to make herself look like a slasher victim. We cleaned her up and talked to her about not playing with other people’s make-up and that we would get her her own make-up. So today we went to Libby Lu’s and she had a make-over. She is quite proud of her fingernails which have blue polish on them. She let them put make-up on her face but would not let them play with her hair. Fast forward to this evening where she got into her make-up and did a makeover for herself making herself look like a zombie or leper depending on how the pictures turned out. I can’t get too upset since we did inform her that it was HER make-up and she didn’t get into any of Ariel’s so it just looks funny. Looking at her face I can only wonder if down the road she is going to follow in Mommy’s footsteps and play around with special effects make-up. From what I saw today I think she would do a good job.

I am grateful for little amusements.

I quiver in terror at what Maggie will be up to in a year or two. She was ten months old one week ago today, and Helen has already nick-named her “Bradley Baby” after the Bradley Fighting Vehicle Steve drove in The Bad Place – right over anything when it gets in her way. The most determined crawler i have ever seen.

She’s getting to where she can stand lnger and longer without support, too… O, the Horrors of a Walking Baby…

I remember when my daughter was 2 years old, and woke me up one morning covered in red. Between being groggy and not wearing my glasses, I thought she had cut herself, and was bleeding profusely. However, when I turned on the light and got my glasses on, I saw that the red was her mother’s lipstick, which she had used to cover not only herself, but also the wall, the TV, and the computer. Fortunately, that provided the inspiration for appropriate punishment, and after a day of neither TV nor computer, she learned never to do that again.

I think that sometimes people are born to their eventual professions. We have photos of our oldest sitting in Daddy’s lap while Daddy was writing his thesis on an “Apple” computer in late 1985. Baby was about 4 months old. If number one son passes the exams he sat 2 weeks ago, he will graduate with a Bachelors degree in IT next month. Many people who have known him all his life were not surprised that he did IT, nor were they surprised when he received an early entry into the Uni degree before he sat his HSC.

My oldest when she was 1 would crawl over to the computer desk and pull herself up and start pecking at the keyboard or playing with the mouse. This was worriesome as even though we had the computer password protected she managed to always get around it and start “fixing” the computer like deleting this program or opening this one. Luckily my husband is a computer IT so he was always able to fix the damage. 🙂 She continued doing this to the day she has her own “Barbie” laptop that she uses. Then we have where she took apart her crib/toddler bed and the kitchen table when she was 1/2. She is really good and patient on unscrewing and twisting things. She takes after her father on being very good with tools and figuring out how to take things apart (though not so great at putting it back together). Her first gift from her grandfather was a tool set which she adored.

BTW, my cat also chews her nails and looks weird doing it too.

My older cat is obsessive compulsive about his nails. I think if I put boots on him so he couldn’t clean them for 24 hours he’d go nuts.

When he was a kitten he hurt his paw, so the Vet put a bandage on it. Like most animals, he ripped it off. Only it wasn’t to lick the wound, it was to clean his nails.

My husband gave me a kitten for my birthday two years ago, and my older cat taught it to take care of it’s nails. Now we have constant battles over the scratching box (it doesn’t help that it has catnip in it).

All in all it’s not a bad thing. I never have to clip his nails like some cat owners. The only drawback is that I tend to find the shredded remnants of their nails all over the house. It disturbed my husband the first time he found one. They look just like his real nail, just hollow.

Further to my post of 20th November, Matt just received notification that he passed all his final exams, so he will graduate with his Bachelor’s degree next month.
