So why do you read this blog?
Posted By Kathleen David on November 8, 2006
Rats. Not a word have I written this morning on the novel. I have been deal with various little things I need to get done and want to get done. Peter also being the sweet loving wonderful husband that he is (Have I mentioned recently how much I love him?) let me sleep in and took care of the girls this morning so I got up a bit later than I have been which was really nice.
Now Peter had taken Caroline off to the gym so I have some time to run around and get some errands done. Then I am going to sit down and write those pesky 1667 words I need to write today to keep up with my novel. I have this sinking feeling that if I don’t keep up I won’t be catching up.
Question for the group (including the people who don’t usually pipe up too) Why do you read this blog? (Immediate Family is exempt from this question because I know why you read it.)
I am grateful for my husband’s kindness to me and others.
I read this blog because of your sparkling personality which shines through, your wonderful stories about Caroline and the rest of your family, your knowledge of things that interest me, and the way your “I am grateful” signoffs positively make my day.
I started reading this blog because I enjoy your husband’s writing. I keep reading it because we seem to have a few shared interests.
I have two small children myself (two sons–one just celebrated his first birthday and one will be four in January) and am also a big fan of Doctor Who.
And I too appreciate the “I am grateful…” signoffs. 🙂
I read your blog because I very much enjoy and admire your way of looking at the world, and because you tell great stories about life, the universe, and everything.
I can almost entirely echo what Beth wrote. I came here because of Peter, but I’ve enjoyed your take on things just as much as I have his. I enjoy the Who discussions a lot (even more so when I get some spare time to participate in them!), and with a 2-year-old daughter I’m avidly keeping up with the news (and pictures) of all things Caroline.

I started reading you because I saw some of your stuff for the first time at this years Dragon*Con and liked it. Didn’t have the $$$$ left over to grab anything though ($#@!#@!#!!!!). I can come here, see what you’ve done lately (I will kill for a McCoy Doctor Who) and, occasionally, have fun posting on TV reviews or other creative subjects that you like to touch on.
My wife’s reasons are about the same (minus the McCoy thing) with one addition. She’s a professional quilter and admires the work you do on a level that I, a non fabrics orientated person, can’t even touch.
That, and your site is generally fun.
It’ like having coffee with friends and catching up, except that we’re on opposite sides of the planet. I enjoy reading about the girls (I have 4 kids, my youngest & only daughter) is around Ariel’s age, maybe a little under. I’m also a sewing type mum. From time to time I do costuming as well as patch work and fancy work – so that’s a common interest. Speaking of my daughter, must dash as she has a viola lesson before school this morning so we have to leave in about 25 mins and we haven’t had breakfast yet.

Megan (7:18am Thursday 9th Nov).
As part of my daily prayers I recite the “Ashrei” (Psalm 145). The “phei” line, “You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing”, is supposed to be said with special intensity. To do so, I think of something good which has happened to somebody since the last time I said the prayer.
Your “I am gratefuls” not only remind me of this, but often give me inspiration for finding the good in my own life when a several-hour yucky period has passed.
I started reading your blog since it was attached to Peter’s, which of course was started by his comic and STNF work. And I’ve just kept on reading. 🙂
I was curious about the blogs linked to Peter’s and curious about his wife as all i knew of him at that time was that he wrote books and comics. Got hooked on your blog due to similiar interests. The main hook though in is your blogging about raising your child. I also have a soon to be 3 year old daughter. She usually is going through the same steps as your daughter (pottying training, cleaning up after herself after playing, ect.) so it is nice to see someone else’s take on it. I have to echo those who also say that your “I am grateful” end tags are inspirational to see someone who doesn’t always see the bad out of everything.
Like many others, I came here because of Peter. Like many others, I stayed because you’re just as much fun to read, in an entirely different way.
Plus, I love Caroline.
Yes, I admit. I started reading your blog because I am a huge fan of PAD and wanted to hear about his non-comic life. But now I read your blog (before his) because I always feel better after. You never fail to bring a smile to my face with your honest-family friendly anecdotes. I feel like I know all of you.
And I love your ‘Grateful For’ sign-offs!!!!
Thank-You.
Came to your blog through PADs but now read it every week for your reviews and opinions on Dr. Who.
