Remember Remember the 5th of November

Posted By on November 5, 2006

Happy Guy Fawkes Day (Well considering the time it is probably after midnight in the UK)

Remember, remember, the 5th of November
The Gunpowder Treason and plot;
I know of no reason why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.

    Apparently this year most Bonfire Night celebrations took place on the 4th. Even in Lewes, which is like Bonfire Night Central! My husband grew up in Lewes and he was really surprised they didn’t have the celebrations on The Day…

    It’s said that Fawkes was the only man to ever enter parliament with honourable intentions.

    Tommy Hambledon, British spy novel character of the 40s to the 60s, once replied to a rather weak joke about Parliament someone made that Guy Fawkes was the only person who ever thought about a really funny joke about Parliament, and it didn’t come off.
