ChattaCon is this weekend

ChattaCon is this weekend. ChattaCon was my first out of town convention and I have very fond memories of it. I made a lot of good friends there over the years. My brother Sean is well know (infamous?) for his parties there. This year it is an Elvis party which is were a lot of this silliness started. If Photognome is by any chance reading this, find Sean and tell him I told you to ask him for an invite. Timing just didn’t work out this year but I am hoping to go next year. I know this year I will be going to LunaCon, Farpoint, Shoreleave, and DragonCon. I am also sure we will add a couple more in there during the year.
Caroline’s new love in books are the “seek and find” books. (Find 3 trucks and 5 popsicles in the picture.) She pores over the pictures to find the objects. She’ll be finding Waldo any day now.
Should be a pretty quiet Saturday. We might take Caroline to see “Hoodwinked” or to the playground if the weather keeps warmin g up. She is finally getting back on her regular schedule. When she became ill, her sleep pattern was interrupted and a new pattern emerged that she got up about 9:30/10:00 then took a nap from 5 to 7 then was up until 1 or 2 in the morning. In this household it is not that big a problem since we have a lot of flexibility in terms of childcare. Yesterday she got up about 7:15. Took her nap from Noon to 2 and fell asleep in her father’s lap about 9:30. This morning she was back up at 7:00 and I hope we are back to the regular schedule.
I am grateful for discount children’s books.
Oh dear, better not let Peter see that second paragraph, he’ll be going on about how “it’s ‘pores’, not ‘pours'” for days. 🙂
Naw, it’s my Da I’ll hear it from if I hadn’t corrected it but he is one of the reasons I did so well in English.

Hey Kathleen,
Now that my family and I live with in reasonable drive time from the Atlanta area (about 5 hours, in Pensacola, FL), we’ve talked off and on about going to DragonCon, but we’re kind of concerned about taking our daughter (she’s five now but would be six by then). From what I’ve seen online, DragonCon can get fairly racy. Is there a family-friendly track we could take and avoid exposing the little one to the more adult-oriented activities/mostly nekkid people? I know you’re th emother of a small child, so I trust your expertise in this.
I’ve no problem with the “grownup” stuff, just don’t think a grade-schooler should be exposed to it.
Heh. When i went to England in 1990 for Fairport Convention’s Cropredy festival, i got some classic doubletakes by wearing Sean’s “Elvis Ghost-to-Ghost Tour” AllAccess pass.
This year’s Elvis Casino party was a major success, I think… bringing in the games and the Whoopie Bucks (thank you, Mr. PitBoss!) was a fun addition… I think I got some good photos of the goings-on – if you wanna see ’em, just let me know… 🙂
