Fuzzy Brain

Very tired. Caroline woke up screaming at 2:30. Peter was still up and working so he took care of her until 5:30. I had a hard time going back to sleep after I was woken up the first time and then got up with Ariel at 7:00. Caroline with any luck is still asleep as I type this. Nope scratch that I hear the thumping of little feet again the wall. She was awake and happy to be alive. After changing her diaper and negotiating how many blankets and stuff toys were traveling downstairs with her, she is now playing in her playpen with her toys.
I managed to clean floor to ceiling one corner of the living room and the living room floor as a whole. It is a large corner but I have 4 rooms to go now. Today has a few interruptions but I built in an extra day for cleaning.
Brain feels fuzzy even with a strong cup of coffee in my system. Yawn
I am grateful for small favors
Behind the cut: A small rant about internet idiots (No one here I promise)
Why the bloody frell does there have to be one bad apple to spoil a perfectly good discussion group? There are know it all and know it nothings but this person is so taking the cake in my book. I am concerned that other perfectly rational people are going to jump list and yet again another rational part of the net is dissolved in the Queen Bee and her minions. Anyone who has corrected her misinformation gets back a message about what was wrong with their message and it can be something as simple as a slight grammar error which may not be an error at all. From a few other people on the list I have found out that this ditz has managed to do this before to other lists. The moderator who is the only one who can get rid of her is off on permanent vacation so the list has no list mommy. This makes QB happy because she pouted about other lists that moderated her responses and were
I think good lists are too few and far between to let someone ruin it. I’ve been through this on several lists. There is always the drama queen (of both genders) to be found.
Your choices are either to a) take those who do not affiliate with QB and start another list, or b) go Yale on her butt and call her on everything she does.
I’ve tried to stay and fight for a while. It gives you a certain feeling of satisfaction to be making the other person’s life miserable. And you have a chance to keep a good list together.
Good luck!
Interesting thoughts considering I’m trying to get an online writers’ group going myself.
I’ve left a few groups in a huff when I think I was unfairly targeted for harsh criticism and never gone back.
You’d be surprised how often I’ve had harsh things said to me, and I’ve tried to keep it light by cracking wise and joke itself is taken out of context. Lately I’ve had to let people know that I’m just joking (which ruins the joke in my opinion).
I plan to have a message board and chat room in my forum and we’ll probably discuss anything. I’m not a free speech absolutist though. I think that leads to anarchy and causes more problems than it’s worth. I won’t edit a message, but I will delete it.
Oh, they only told you about 101, 210, and 311? Not about 102, 211, 321, and the 499 special senior honors project? Sorry, I *had* thought better of you. 🙂
(Actually, what I’ve always found amusing about Yale, Harvard, and Princeton undergrad graduates is that, for the most part, it’s like pulling teeth to get them to admit where they went to school. If you ask someone where they went to college and they answer on the order of “oh, a school in the Northeast” or “A place in Connecticut” or the like, it’s almost a sure bet they went to the appropriate one of the three)

Every moderator has to decide how they want their piece of the internet run. I belong to lists where if you get one toe off topic your post is gone. But I knew the rules going in. That is the big thing. Make sure your participants know what behavior is expected of them and what will and will not be tolerated.

The second course was assumed . Since I was in grad school I had a lot to do in a short time including my master’s thesis. Which I still have a copy of somewhere.
