Fever

Caroline has not been her usual cheerful self for a couple of days. She has been coughing with a fever and some gag reflex vomiting. Last night she was miserable and woke up in pain several times with her fever spiking to almost 104. Peter took point on this and got up with her several times, then at 5:00 it became a two person job trying to get the fever down and her comfortable so she could rest. We took her to her doctor as soon as we could on Saturday and she has her first ear infection. We were given a course of treatment and she is now at home dropping everything in her pen outside her playpen.
My daughter, Mattie, is 4 and there’s nothing worse than a sick baby. They’re so little and don’t understand why they feel so bad. Illnesses don’t affect her as badly now that she’s older, but when my wonderful, independent girl starts being clingy, I know the fever isn’t far behind. She also used to get ear infections, especially her first year. She ended up getting the “multi-cocktail” shot twice when other anti-biotics didn’t help. So, in short, I feel for you and hope it’s a short one.
Caroline is on the mend. Two days on an antibiotic and she was back to her morning pattern this morning. I feel much relief.
