Now that I am linked to Peter

Posted By on March 7, 2004

Welcome to my blog. Feel free to read and comment.

I have the same views as Peter about the 1st amendment.

I am wife #2. Before I married Peter, I spent over 15 years as an Equity Stage Manager and I have been a Master Puppeteer for over 20 years. I have worked in many jobs. Everything from Rock and Roll to Cancer Research. My last gig was as an Associate Editor for Del Rey Books. I am now a freelance editor looking for a position. I use to manage a comic book shop and a book store. I am a Science Fiction Fan from way back. I have gone to conventions since I was 12. I still go to them and find them fun. So I am a geek from way back. Apple user back when it was the Apple II. I also own one of the first portable Apples or the luggable as we called it.

Peter has something on his blog occasionally where he lets you ask him questions. So here is your chance to ask me questions.

Glad you are here.

Glad to have seen the link to your experiment Kathleen. That’s a really cute picture of Caroline down below.

Anyway, I see that you are a Master Puppeteer. What type of work have you done in that field? Any particular shows, movies or characters that we would know?

I hope that this works well for you, and I’ll make this a regular stop on my daily sweep. 🙂

    Jeff-
Most of my work was at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta (One of the coolest museums in the world) and with a group up in Roswell GA. I mainly do hand and rod (muppet type puppets) but have dabbling in just about every form. I build a Sandman puppet for Neil Gaiman that he really likes. My puppets are in collections and a few museums all over the world. My favorite was the Australian Camera Crew that were in Atlanta for the Olympics. They took the puppet back to Australia and used it in a documentary to sell Australia for the Olympics.

Found your link and I love those pictures. Keep it up and I’ll keep looking in. Can’t stay long right now as I’m watching “The Practice” – which I may not be watching next year too.

Are there any fun stories from your work on the \\Star Wars\\ novels you’d like share?

Ah! Glenn broke the formatting codes! Sorry about the nonsense slashes….

I agree with jeff and Dalia that the pictures are cute and fun to look at. Since jeff covered the puppeteer angle, my question is in what capacity did you work in rock and roll and cancer research? Are you a Doc Savage/Buckaroo Banzai renaissance woman?:)

On the TV show rundown, I gave up on the Practice when half the original cast was gone. But, I hear William Shatner will be guest starring in three episodes soon as an eccentric head of a law firm. That should be worth a look. Dr. Who should be back with us early next year, and the Red Dwarf movie is scheduled to begin production (at last!) this May. Meanwhile I get my viewing kicks from DVD overexpenditures.

Lot’s of luck with the new blog. The website design looks great. And, feel free to correct any spelling or grammatical errors I’ve made. 🙂

    Stephen-
Cancer Research was during my high school days. I worked as chief bottle washer for the Emory University Cancer Research Center. I learned a lot about the research from the Doctors there. Some of the things they learned over time have been used to improve the treatment of cancer. Rock and Roll has popped in and out of my career. I have done load-ins and outs for large bands and ran sound for smaller/less known groups. Great fun and I learned two things. Drugs are bad and wear hearing protection when working a concert. I saw so many drugged out roadies that I knew what would happen in the long term of using speed and pot and other hardcore drugs. A very wise roadie (who didn

    I have three quick questions.
    >
We met back in 1990 at an Atlanta Fantasy Fair where he bought a puppet from me, R’alf the Klingon. I’ll tell the longer version another time

    ‘Cause the Hulk rocks!

    Comics or Books?

    Thanks I am

I see by a previous entry that you are a Buffy fan. So, who is (/are) your favorite character(/s)?

  8. Joseph T. Hendrix says:

    Whose work do you read?
    Comics AND books.
A good story is a good story, not matter what form it comes in.
(And just because Peter is your husband doesn

You’ve mentioned over on Peter’s blog attending Yale Drama. Out of curiousity, about when (I was over in the CS dept. graduate program back in ’81-2)?

And, of course, the key question for a former New Havenite; Pepe’s or Sally’s? 🙂

Just out of curiosity, does being a Master Puppeteer have anything to do with Ernie going “I must do what Kathleen says.” 🙂
