I dealt with her when she needed to leave the theater for a bit. From what I saw it was a wonderful film but what is it with Elijah Wood and quests? The actors they used for the voices did a fine job. Robin Williams was of course a stitch.

Lunch/Dinner was very nice. We had what we wanted to eat and didn’t have to deal with the clean up. Only thing they didn’t have was cranberry sauce or if they did I couldn’t find it on the salad table. In the evening we caught up on a number of episodes of Eureka that we hadn’t seen first go ’round. A quiet day which was quite nice.

Today is about avoiding the malls and stores. I was very careful to make sure we have everything we need in the house today. I might try AC Moore for something I had my eye on since I have a 60% coupon but I have to put the hassle factor into the equation for a decent price on something. I will say that I do not miss any of my retail jobs today. My sympathies for everyone who does have to deal with Black Friday.

This week I have been writing about what I am thankful for. Some things have been tangible and others not so much. But each has made me think hard about all the good things in my life and I have a pretty good life. I really don’t think I know anyone that has the perfect life but I know a few that are close (sort of like enlightenment).

I am thankful for education. I have a good form and informal education on a lot of subjects. Education comes in many forms; Life is an education. I remember someone telling me the day you don’t learn something new is the day you die. Some of the lessons I have had over the years I won’t care to repeat but they have taught me a lot about others and myself.

I am thankful for skills I have learned over the years. I have had good teachers. I know a lot about how to build something so it says together. I have basic electrical skills as well as plumbing skills which allows me to fix minor problems. I can sew just about anything at this point. I have learned pattern-making skills that have saved my butt more than once. I can sculpt something and make it look like the picture in my head. I can look at a costume and break it down into its components.

I am thankful for my organizational skills. I got those from my parents. My mother taught me the best way to pack for a trip. My father taught me about breaking things down into manageable steps and making a record of my work. Those skills have served me well over the years. I can juggle twenty different things in my head and organize them. Helped a lot when I was stage managing and still help with family projects.

I am thankful for my imagination. It has kept me amused for years. I make up stories in my head when I am bored and have done since I was a little kid. It has allowed me to think of possibilities for the future. Imagination is one of the greatest things we all have.

I am thankful for my parenting skills. They seem to be doing pretty well. Being a parent is the toughest job I’ll ever love but it is worth every minute of it. Good times and bad. You know the commercial for Gerber that say, “Having a baby changes everything”? They are not wrong and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

I am grateful for all my blessings.

Caroline paid attention to about half of Happy Feet.
