I got the pictures of the Fluzzies up on my website homepage.mac.com/kathodavid then click on the Fluzzies button or go look at my previous post where I have a hot link for it. Now I have to reclaim the living room from the convention chaos and possibly put together a couple more Fluzzies while I am at it. Then you are going to be hearing a lot of Dr. Who puppet talk as I work my way through the 10.

But first Pirates! Peter and I saw PftC: Dead Man’s Chest yesterday. Whoa! What a ride! The time just flew past and the story engaged me from beginning to end. I like how I was dropped in the middle of the story and the director assumed I would catch-up and figure out what was going on. By the end of the film I knew everything I needed to know that happened between the two films. It was well cast and well acted. Peter figured out the tag before the credits started to roll. I came out of the theater feeling how I felt when I saw the first one which was “I want to see that again!” This is a must see in the theater. The scale is used to the films advantage.

Behind the cut there are spoilers and Pirates and the comments are designated a spoiler zone for all and any who wish to make their mark. Arrrrrr.

I am grateful that Peter and I took the time to see Pirates yesterday.

About the Monsters. Interesting idea and lovely execution but I like the skeletons better. But the dude who was holding on to the lamp and had been there too long so he WAS the ship was really neat. I also did like that Boot-Strap keep “evolving” as the story went along. They kind of grew on me after a while.

Norington. Wow they gave the actor a meaty role to play with and I think he did a great job with it. I could tell from the first film that Jack Davenport was a good actor but he surpassed my expectations in this one. Bill Nighty was wonderful as Dave Jones but I knew he would be from the movies I have seen him previously in. I am glad that also gave Kevin McNally (Gibbs) more to do. Stellan Skarsgård has been in a number of things I have seen over the years mostly in the background. It was nice to see him in the foreground of the picture. The rest of the cast is wonderful of course. I will see Jonathan Pryce read the phone book, He has been a favorite of mine since Brazil and Something Wicked this way Comes which came out the same year. Johnny, Orlanda and Kira were wonderful of course.

The plot was convoluted but by the end you had all the pieces of the puzzle to put together and set you up for the next film. I figured out where Barbossa was before Peter did and when he would appear. And wasn’t that just a brilliant reveal? I loved the apple drool down his chin. I give the screenwriters credit for how to use the bloody undead monkey with great effect. I so want to see the next film now! Which is probably what the producers want. I think they can ride the wave until next year.

Slowing I think my brain is returning from the convention.
