Today is Labor Day. It has been a national holiday for 125 years now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLabor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n If you love Labor Day, thank a Union Worker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Right now, Unions are under siege where there is a lot of union busting by companies that do not want their workers to organize. The \u201cright to work\u201d statutes are killing the ability for unions to add new members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As a nation, I think we have forgotten all that unions have done for the workforce as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They have done so much for the workers of America that is now considered normal that would have not existed except for the unions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lunchbreak? Thank a union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fair wage for fair work? Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Vacation pay? Union<\/p>\n\n\n\n So thank a Union member for having today off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I am a proud member of Actors Equity and Peter is a member of the WGA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now onto Mental Health<\/p>\n\n\n\n This week is national Suicide Prevention Week with September 10 designated as Suicide Awareness Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Suicides are up according to WHO. They also believe that the rate is going to increase even after we have this pandemic under control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are all under stress right now. There is a feeling of hopelessness and grief that is now worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are grieving for what was and worried about what will be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I would put the mental health of this planet is poor at best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And the things that are stressing us aren\u2019t going away soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And that leads to despair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I know the stress of dealing with health issues with no end in sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I know what it is like to think that there is nothing left to live for and why stick around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I am so glad that I got help and am still here. I encourage others to do the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Suicide is not the answer to one\u2019s pain. It is a long term solution to a short term problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And it does get better. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Right now, it may not seem that way but I can tell you from personal experience that there is a life out there that is worth living for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Seeking help is not a weakness but a strength. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Take care of yourselves. Give yourself time to breath and be in the moment. Self care is not selfish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Walking is good for the brain in so many ways. Sunshine is good for the brain and mental health.
