Tonight the speculation ends. All the stories that have been reported all week will have a conclusion. The trash talking moves to the field and the Seahawks and the Steelers have a chance to prove that they are the best team this year based on the wacky way they have the playoff schedule worked out. I’m saying Steelers by at least 7 probably more (As the Seahawk fans rejoice).<\/p>\n
I started watching football with my dad. In the beginning I have to admit my motivation was the potato chips. My parents have this large green glass bowl which has a smaller green glass bowl that attached to the larger bowl to put onion dip in. This magic bowl would come out when my father was watching football and I would sit and have some chips and watch the game. Overtime I grew more interested in the game itself. I had my father explain to me the calls and the rules to me as we watched I learned about the teams in the NFL and any team playing Georgia Tech once we moved down to Atlanta. I found it useful to know what was going on during the football season so I would have something to talk to Teamsters about when I encountered them in my theater career. I took my boss who was British once to a football game since he had never seen a game in person. It was a famous game indeed. The Baltimore Colts (at the time) were working on the most losses in a row and they were doing really well at it. They came in to play the Atlanta Falcons who were having troubles of their own. The game was horrible in terms of a good football game. The ball was run up and down the field so many times it looked like they were in a relay race rather than a football game.<\/p>\n
Somewhere along the way two things joined the Superbowl the snacks and the commercials. For the commercials I think 1984 and the Mac commercial changed how we look at the Superbowl and commercials for all time. I didn’t see it when it originally aired because I was in the loo. I mean it was a commercial break right? I come back in to see the very very tail end of it and the expressions on my brother and father’s faces. They told me all about it in detail and I kicked myself for going to the loo. Since then the battle of the commercials has become a big part of the Superbowl and the water cooler conversation the next day.<\/p>\n
I have no idea when tailgating started but it is an integral part of football for many fans who go to the games. The competition among the fans for best food and set up can get rather heated and advertisers have taken it to heart. Snacking has become a big part of watching a football game as well as beer. People pride themselves on the level of their snacks they serve during a football game. Superbowl is a super snack day and the pizza parlors love it too. Sports bars can make a mint on Superbowl Sunday. Personally I have stocked up the larder with both healthy and unhealthy snacks and am looking forward to consuming them.<\/p>\n
