Today is my Father\u2019s birthday as well as Prince Charles and Paul McGann.<\/p>\n
I am proud of my father and his achievements both sung and unsung. I am proud to call him Dad and I know that I am a very lucky person that I get along as well as I do with him.<\/p>\n
Caroline adores her Pop-pop as she calls him. She has told her teachers about her grandparents who are both college Professors. My dad sends me things that he thinks will be of interest to me and to her. He knows his grandchildren rather well and knows their interests.<\/p>\n
My father always took an interest in what I was interested in. He would even try to watch TV shows that I adored. Some he liked but most of them were not his cup of tea and he would tell me that but didn\u2019t discourage me from watching the things that I loved.<\/p>\n
And that is a big thing about my dad, unless it was a really stupid idea, he never discourage me from trying something. He let me try my hand at all kinds of things and this allowed me to become the person I am today. He did that with all his children even if he wasn\u2019t sure that it was the best of ideas or that he was worried that we couldn\u2019t do what we want well. <\/p>\n
I learned the scientific method from my father and how to apply it to the real world and real world problems which has served me well over the years. He taught me how to break things down into steps and work my way to the finished product. <\/p>\n
He was always willing to show us how he did something. We watching him build things and make cloisonn\u00e9 pins and other crafty things. We watched him draw and doodle. If we had questions, he would answer. <\/p>\n
If we had questions on just about anything he would answer or would send us to where we could get the information. I think he loved our thirst for knowledge. He did his best to make sure we had a good education and an understanding of not just our country but the world around us. <\/p>\n
