His shows are breathtaking to watch. He also is a fount of knowledge about marionettes and the history of puppetry. On his Facebook page he has a request <i>I seem to have a lot of friends on here who are puppeteers, puppet enthusiasts, puppetry hobbyists or puppet smartypants-know-it-all-academics. So how about this: today, right now, Tuesday, you just all post a picture of something puppet related you are proud of, or a puppet that you find so g&#248;b&#353;m&#225;&#231;k&#236;&#326;gl&#255;f&#251;&#231;k&#236;&#326;g beautiful it makes your teeth hurt. And then on Wednesday we can all go back to inanity and sharing of angry political posts not of your own design, or GIFs of poop coming out of Trump&#8217;s mouth. But let&#8217;s make Tuesday a nice day of puppets. Come on. It&#8217;s not that hard.<\/i> copyright Ronnie Burkett 2016.<\/p>\n<p>So I am going to, behind the cut because this is going to get photo heavy, show you some of the puppets I have made that I am proud of. <\/p>\n<p>I am grateful that I have made so many puppets and amused so many people.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s561.photobucket.com\/user\/Puppetmaker40\/media\/ed12f91d-1.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i561.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss54\/Puppetmaker40\/ed12f91d-1.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo ed12f91d-1.jpg\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nThese are my signature puppets that Peter dubbed Phluzzies. I have made more of these over the years than I can count. People do keep me up on their adventures with these puppets.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s561.photobucket.com\/user\/Puppetmaker40\/media\/Past%20Projects\/Scan_zpsed36da0d.jpeg.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i561.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss54\/Puppetmaker40\/Past%20Projects\/Scan_zpsed36da0d.jpeg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"First set of Dr. Who Puppets photo Scan_zpsed36da0d.jpeg\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nMy first set of Doctor Who puppets made between the time that the Doctor Who movie aired and DragonCOn that year. This set taught me so much about how to make puppet clothing and some new craft skills. Over the years I have built two more sets of them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s561.photobucket.com\/user\/Puppetmaker40\/media\/Past%20Projects\/NeilLittleNeilandme_zps0e0720fc.jpeg.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i561.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss54\/Puppetmaker40\/Past%20Projects\/NeilLittleNeilandme_zps0e0720fc.jpeg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Neil, little Neil and Me photo NeilLittleNeilandme_zps0e0720fc.jpeg\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nNeil Gaiman, Little Neil and me from DragonCon. Neil asked me if I could make a puppet of him and I did. Neil has given me a number of challenges over the years and has always encouraged me to make puppets. We became friends over a Sandman puppet I made.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s561.photobucket.com\/user\/Puppetmaker40\/media\/Blog%20Photos\/MorphyandLittleNeil_zpse1f4903a.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i561.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss54\/Puppetmaker40\/Blog%20Photos\/MorphyandLittleNeil_zpse1f4903a.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Little Neil and Morphy photo MorphyandLittleNeil_zpse1f4903a.jpg\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nHere is Little Neil and Morphy the puppet that Neil and I became friends over<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s561.photobucket.com\/user\/Puppetmaker40\/media\/Past%20Projects\/Pelaquin_zps2718f6f0.jpeg.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i561.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss54\/Puppetmaker40\/Past%20Projects\/Pelaquin_zps2718f6f0.jpeg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Peloquin from Nightnreed photo Pelaquin_zps2718f6f0.jpeg\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nPeloquin from Clive Barker\u2019s Nightbreed. This taught me a lot about paint and puppets. I gave the puppet to Clive.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s561.photobucket.com\/user\/Puppetmaker40\/media\/Past%20Projects\/Pinhead_zps6595734d.jpeg.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i561.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss54\/Puppetmaker40\/Past%20Projects\/Pinhead_zps6595734d.jpeg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Pinhead photo Pinhead_zps6595734d.jpeg\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nPinhead from Hellraiser by Clive Barker. Doug Bradley informed me that this puppet was so wrong that it was right. That something so evil could look cuddly was probably scarier than any Cenobite that Clive had created. So I gave him the puppet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s561.photobucket.com\/user\/Puppetmaker40\/media\/268307_245090555501167_100000006728049_1063382_3236833_n.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i561.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss54\/Puppetmaker40\/268307_245090555501167_100000006728049_1063382_3236833_n.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo 268307_245090555501167_100000006728049_1063382_3236833_n.jpg\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nThis was the sketch \u201cIt\u2019s OK to be Takei\u201d that we did at Shoreleave. This came out of a Tennessee story where teachers were informed that they could no longer use the word gay. George decided to point out the absurdity of this by telling the teachers to replace gay with Takei so they would not get in trouble. We took the song from Avenue Q and turned it a bit on it\u2019s head. We did it again at Dragon Con in the first puppet slam.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s561.photobucket.com\/user\/Puppetmaker40\/media\/3d3431ed.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i561.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss54\/Puppetmaker40\/3d3431ed.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo 3d3431ed.jpg\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nThis was taken at Icon where I gave Paul McGann his Doctor puppet. He loved the puppet and it took us a couple of tried before he understood it was his puppet. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s561.photobucket.com\/user\/Puppetmaker40\/media\/342af096.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i561.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss54\/Puppetmaker40\/342af096.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo 342af096.jpg\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nCharles and Erik from X-Men First Class. This set taught me the importance of getting photos before taking the puppets to a show since I sold them and these are the only photos of the completed puppets. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s561.photobucket.com\/user\/Puppetmaker40\/media\/3b00863b.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i561.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss54\/Puppetmaker40\/3b00863b.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo 3b00863b.jpg\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nLockheed from the X-Men. A lot of fun to make and figure out how to operate it. The real pain was finding the material to make Rumple\u2019s skin. I went all over the fabric district and just couldn\u2019t find anything that I really liked. Then I went to my local fabric store and with the new Halloween fabrics was this gold lizard like fabric that worked like a charm.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s561.photobucket.com\/user\/Puppetmaker40\/media\/Puppet%20Album\/6950FCE4-4AF0-432F-9A21-AFBDBF84B878_zpsb4ergzsh.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i561.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss54\/Puppetmaker40\/Puppet%20Album\/6950FCE4-4AF0-432F-9A21-AFBDBF84B878_zpsb4ergzsh.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo 6950FCE4-4AF0-432F-9A21-AFBDBF84B878_zpsb4ergzsh.jpg\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nSean Mcguire\u2019s Robin Hood puppet. I took it out for a beer before sending it to him. He loved it and so did his children. Years later I got to meet him and ask about the puppet. He asked if I was still making puppets because I had a gift that needed to be used.
