The Irish festival was not big but the bands and groups were great. The vending area did have just about anything Irish except alcohol. The beer trucks and wine bar took care of that. The temperature was a bit hot but we lucked into seats under a tent with a nice breeze coming off the water. Caroline had a blast dancing to the music. They had a wooden platform setup for step-dancing but they were letting the little kids dance on it. Caroline and a bunch of kids about her age were bouncing up and down and spinning in circles. She does have a sense of rhythm and she loves irish music. I knew that from the time she was 6 months old and I was playing The Chieftains<\/i>. She bounced in rhythm to the music with great glee. She turned 2 1\/2 yesterday. In 6 months she will be 3. I have pictures of our little dancing queen that I hope to put up today along with Puppet pictures and a few other things.<\/p>\n
The Tony Awards Show was fine until we got to the end. Would it have killed them not to show one commercial and instead give the producers of Spamalot<\/i> a chance to speak their piece? I did like Hugh Jackman saying he wasn\u2019t going to dance because he was shooting an action picture and Wolverine wouldn\u2019t do high kicks. The cell phone call between him and Billy Crystal was a stitch too. Overall it was one of the better awards shows I have seen in recent years. The awards were very even handed for the most part. Book went to \u201cPutnam County Spelling Bee\u201d (How funny was Al Sharpton as one of the contestants in the Bee?), score went to \u201cLight at the Piazza\u201d (which I have heard very little about) and best musical went to \u201cSpamalot\u201d (Ni!). \u201cDoubt\u201d won most of the top awards for a straight play. The exception being Bill Irwin winning for \u201cWho\u2019s afraid of Virginia Woolf\u201d who richly deserved it. Billy Crystal won for best special theatrical event and he did have some stiff competition including his friend Whoopi Goldberg. If you were watching the show, John (my puppetry teacher) was the Male puppeteer of the Avenue Q puppets.<\/p>\n
