Football was played over the weekend and we had two games last night.<\/p>\n
This week a lot of upsets if you can have upsets in the first week. Also a lot of fantasy teams were decimated as player after player went down. This affected Eagles Fans I think more than anyone else.<\/p>\n
Also it is interesting to see the new concussion rules in play. Along with some really wacka-doodle new rules about what you can and cannot do on the field. \u201cLaunching\u201d yourself into someone is a new no-no. And one game was lost due to the player not understanding the control of ball rules. That one had to hurt a lot. I am surprised considering the number of pre-season games that the rules aren\u2019t better known.<\/p>\n
It was also interesting the number of \u201csuper bowl bound\u201d teams that had a loss this week. They didn\u2019t play particularly well in the pre-season but everyone chalked that up to saving players and arms for things that mattered. But most of the mistakes in the game were the same ones that were made in the preseason games. <\/p>\n
In college football, there seems to be a great debate at which teams are worthy for bowl contention based on their schedule not on the number of wins. And if a worthy team is beaten by a not-worthy team, then does it become a not-worthy team automatically and thus other worthy teams games against them don\u2019t count? The bowl system is FUBAR\u2019d and has been ever since someone decided that we needed a clear \u201cwinner\u201d for the season. And I don\u2019t think it is going to get any better any time soon.<\/p>\n
Baseball is still going. We are in September and have a pretty good idea who is going to the playoffs this year. Some races are still a little tight but most are pretty much a lock at this time. Braves vs. Yankees is my bet for the World Series.<\/p>\n
