When I was a kid one of my favorite animated series was George of the Jungle<\/i> which was created by Jay Ward and Bill Scott of Rocky and Bullwinkle fame. Out of the three shorts which were George of the Jungle, Tom Slick, and Super Chicken, my favorite was Super Chicken. I think it was the family favorite too. Such phrases as “You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred” and “What about your Super vision?” were pretty common in our household.<\/p>\n
Recently we got the entire series of George of the Jungle on DVD and sat down with the girls to introduce them to one of our favorite childhood favorites. Ariel thought it was funny enough. Caroline was enchanted by it and her favorite of the three shorts was Super Chicken. Like mother like daughter *Grin*.<\/p>\n
So I was taking a short nap when Peter came into the bedroom with Caroline bouncing right behind them. They were both smiling ear to ear and I knew they were up to something. And Peter started to sing<\/p>\n
When you find yourself in danger,
\nWhen you’re threatened by a stranger,
\nWhen it looks like you will take a lickin’, <\/i><\/p>\n
Caroline cheerfully chimes in “Buck, buck, buck, buck”<\/p>\n
There is someone waiting,
\nWho will hurry up and rescue you,
\njust Call for Super Chicken!<\/i><\/p>\n
Caroline declares “Buck, ack!”<\/p>\n
Fred, if you’re afraid you’ll have to overlook it,
\nBesides you knew the job was dang’rous when you took it <\/i><\/p>\n
Caroline is bouncing up and down singing “Buck, ack!”<\/p>\n
He will drink his super sauce
\nAnd throw the bad guys for a loss
\nAnd he will bring them in alive and kickin’ <\/i><\/p>\n
Caroline runs around the bed saying “Buck, buck, buck, buck”<\/p>\n
There is one thing you should learn
\nWhen there is no one else to turn to
\nCall for Super Chicken!<\/i><\/p>\n
Caroline clucks along, “Buck, buck, buck, buck”<\/p>\n
Call for Super Chicken! <\/i><\/p>\n
And as loud as she can be, Caroline screams “Buck, ack!”<\/p>\n
I was laughing so hard. Caroline was so proud of herself that she made Peter sing it again just so she could cluck for me again.<\/p>\n
It is something that I am going to treasure always.<\/p>\n
She now insists at clucking to the song each time she watched it and I can’t believe how loud she can be with that last Buck ack, but then I knew the job was dangerous when I took it.<\/p>\n
