This is my first Chatta at the ChooChoo which is a neat looking hotel with some train cars set up as Hotel Rooms. It is steeped in train lore. The only draw back is that the convention is not contained to one building but a couple of buildings on the property. So we are getting our exercise here, which is not a bad thing.<\/p>\n
We left the girls with my parents and weaved our way through Atlanta traffic then the traffic north of Atlanta and then the traffic between Atlanta and Chattanooga and of course the traffic in Chattanooga. But we still made good time over all. We arrived to find a very large line that rivaled DragonCon in size. Fortunately it was to get badges and not to check in.<\/p>\n
The folks who run ChattaCon have been great to us. The phrase southern hospitality gets bandied about so often but they are the epitome of such. We found a great goodie bag in our room along with a case of water which is very much appreciated. There were some badge snafus that will have to be sorted out today but that is not entirely their fault. FedEx had a major hand in it.<\/p>\n
I went around and caught up with my brother and sister and a whole bunch of friends some of which I have not seen since before Caroline was born.<\/p>\n
Peter’s opening remarks as Toastmaster were well received. I think the guests he introduced enjoy their introductions. I enjoyed the reception afterwards. ChattaCon keeps its convention goers well feed and no one goes thirsty. I only went to one party which my bother Doc Whoopee was throwing which has a wrestling theme. A lot of fun was had by all.<\/p>\n
Day 2 will be more of the same I think. I plan to go see the Art Show and catch up with some other people. So far it is a nice relaxing convention.<\/p>\n
