I will say starting out that this is not my favorite episode of Doctor Who. In fact it rates rather low on my list. I do understand what they were trying to do but I live on Long Island and go into Manhattan quite frequently. I also studied the depression era while in college so this one just annoyed my inner historian to no end.<\/p>\n

The performances are solid all around. Their casting director did a good job with what they had to work with. Some of the American accents were not quite there but over all not a bad job.<\/p>\n

Caroline likes Daleks so she had no problem watching it even when it did get scary.<\/p>\n

I am grateful for long walks on a nice beach.<\/p>\n

Again not among my favorites and probably the thing I found most off-putting was the human\/dalek hybrid. Phallic face as I like to call him. The spats didn’t help either. Most of the rest of the episode was OK. The people disappearing and no body really noticing could so happen in that era. There was the color blind casting of the characters which was nice.<\/p>\n

Tennant did a nice job of “Not the Daleks yet again” but I do have to say that they are wearing out their welcome. I know that they had them only for 3 seasons so they wanted to use them. But this script was a mish-mosh that really needed another pass to tighten it up. In actuality this and the next episode could have been done in an hour. There is a lot of filler which makes this episode drag out to the “climax” which was the reveal of the hybrid which frankly I laughed when I first saw it.<\/p>\n

I do promise that the season does get better. A lot better after these two episodes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
