No Strings Attached

The bright light in this is that I thought I had two weeks. Speaking of bright lights, I think I saw the sun this morning. Now we are back to grey clouds and sad light.

Peter took Caroline to go see Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief to give me a little me time at home which I thought was nice but I also think it is good for the two of them to get some time together.

Peter has been reading Caroline “How to Train Your Dragon” then they will get back to OZ.

Shout Out to my Mom, Caroline got the package and sat down and read the book to herself with very little help from me. She loved it and the clothes.

Shout Out to my sister-in-law Beth, is Emily’s birthday coming up?

Shout Out to Shana, I haven’t forgotten about the puppet, I just have to wait for this set of snow to thaw so I can get the rods done and then I’ll ship him off to you.

Am I a bad fan because I am not getting into Smallville any more? We knew where this was going since a certain person showed up. I really don’t care which is sad because I really like a lot of the actors in the show but the written is not doing it for me. Sorry guys, I know that you keep saying to hang on but it’s just not working for me.

Who else missed Chuck?

We have been watching Caprica and agree that it would have worked without BSG before it but it does make it more interesting. Also love the opening credits on this one more so than BSG.

Spoilers allowed in comments. We got blinded sided by the end of Spartacus last night. Peter had a different theory that would have worked but we both agree that this worked so much better. I will be interested to see what the writers do from this point.

I would have called this a Random Thoughts Before the Coffee Kicks In but I had my coffee for the day.

I am grateful that I did get the bobcatsled done when I did (they extended the entry time by two weeks)

Our local meteorologist admits that he missed the possibilities of this storm. All the models had the low going through pretty quickly and then onto the Northeast, hence calling it a Nor’easter. But the low had other plans. Apparently it had tickets to a show in New York City and then decided to hang around a bit. We awoke to the news that the school was closed and there was a heck of a lot more snow than original predicted.

Caroline was most disappointed because they were celebrating the 101st day of school. They had all kinds of activities planned at the school. We pointed out that this was a snow day so Monday will still be 101st day of school. I just hope that they do the planned activities. This is the most snow days that the district has dealt with in years. We have used up the planned snow days with today’s snowfall. Now they will have to expand the end of the school year if we get any more.

I did get my bobcat sled done and I am pretty proud of it. It came out how I saw it in my head for the most part. I put a picture in the previous entry on this web log so feel free to go have a look.

Today is going to be about picking up from this project and getting back to my previous ones for LunaCon which is in a couple of weeks, if I can get up to Rye, if it ever stops snowing every week, like maybe when Spring shows up, which isn’t today.

Oh well. Good day for hot chocolate and a nice warm book.

I am grateful that we had no where critical to go to today.

I drew sledding so here it is

It is a Bobcat Sled. I didn’t make the Toy Story aliens but they fit in the back of the sled so nicely.

This was silly and fun to make.

Which just about describes our weather today and tomorrow. West of us they are getting heavy snow but we are on the bubble of the warm front.

For some strange reason my facebook application for the iPhone went berserk so I had to delete it and re-install it. I took the push off too since it was eating up battery power.

Today is D-Day on the critter for the Olympic Challenge. I have the head done and the rough of the body. Now I have to break everything down to a pattern, cut the fabric and put the whole thing together. I am hoping to have it done by this afternoon with pictures to follow.

I am kind of glad that I was off the internet yesterday. There was a lot of drama in two groups that I belong to. I really think people need to take a deep breath and count before accusing anyone of doing anything on the internet esp. when there is more than one person making the decisions for the group. And, although I am a first amendment advocate like my husband, plagiarism is plagiarism no matter how much you try to gussy it up with new terms and excuses. Here’s a test, if Harlan Ellison had written what you were basing your work on, would you be willing to go into a room and defend your work to HE? If the answer is even shaded towards a negative, then I really won’t do it. (I’m talking rabid badger Ellison not friendly Uncle Harlan). As to the other matter, I really don’t care what personal history you have with a moderator, it was a group decision and we declared it as such. I didn’t chime in because I was about 3 hours late to the party and my fellow mods did a fine job at the time. Keep it up and you will find yourself in a serious time-out.

I am grateful that this is rain not snow and I’ll go on telling myself that.

But we may be getting more snow later this week (slight) or a little more of either next week (more probable). Which means more indoor recess for Caroline. I talked to the principle yesterday about outdoor recess which they would like to resume because it is easier on the gym area. But the temperature needs to be a little warmer and they are going to wait for the water to drain since the entire playground is saturated with water.

I would like it to warm up a bit so I can get some basic yard work done. I also need to get the lawn mower to the shop for its yearly check-up and tune up. I have to trim some bushes that I didn’t get to in October due to travel.

Today I have a few errands to run and then back to the project for the week. Then I have to make puppet bodies for the kids for the Alice in Wonderland puppet show. I have to go through my scrap fabric and pull what I need for the show.

Anyone else looking forward to Tim Burton’s Disney Alice in Wonderland in 3-D? The more I see, the more I want to see. It seems to have that odd sense about it that appeals to me. I am not looking forward to seeing a 100 Mad Hatters at DragonCon although that would be one heck of a photo op.

I also need to get cracking on my stuff for LunaCon as I feel time slip through my fingers since March is right around the corner. My time management, which use to be excellent, sucks. I know that I have to change things to get it to work correctly, it is just doing those things.

I am grateful that we were able to get the alarm system fixed without having to pay an additional charge due to our phone company clipping a wire that they shouldn’t have.
