The other day Peter and I were talking about various things and among the topics covered were the Long Island Ducks which are an Atlantic League team much closer to our house than the Mets are. We typically go to a couple of games. Tickets are 10 to 15 dollars and you get to see the old greats and the up and comers. Playing for the Ducks gives one a great chance of being seen by the New York scouts among other leagues.
Last night we went to a game. The give-away was a baseball being sponsored by the hospital where Caroline was born. Ariel won the guess the attendance contest. Caroline hugged Quackerjack and got a baseball signed by Buddy Harrelson (69 Mets). I had fun watching my family have fun and enjoying a baseball game where you can hear the ball slap into the catcher’s mitt and a crack of the bat can be heard very clearly.

Today Peter and Caroline are off to see the Mets play the Rockies thanks to a family friend who can’t use his tickets today and offered them to us. It’s an early game (noon) so Peter will be home for bowling.
I am grateful for ballgames we can afford.

Here are the finished Dragons Eggs I am working on. I am a but behind on my schedule but I think I can make it up in spades.
Next project I can’t put pics up for since it is for someone else.
I am grateful to be able to break bread with someone I have known for 40 years and we are still good friends even after all that time.

And it is a bit light this year. I have nothing on Saturday which is unusual since I know that there were some people who wanted to use me for things. I know that Young Adult got their choices but considering the other tracks that express interest in my services, I am wondering what happened. Now Peter is not scheduled against himself which is a feat in itself but his is a little light too.
To find me at DragonCon is pretty easy. You can find me at my panels or go find Peter in Artists Alley (same place as last year) and he can tell you were I am or I very well might be there. Except Sunday. Sunday is my running around day so I will be in and out of the convention however Caroline will be with us and probably at Peter’s table selling drawings so if you want to see Caroline, that’s the place to go on Sunday and part of Monday.
I’ll post my schedule a little closer to the actual convention.
I am grateful for what I am doing at DragonCon.

Not quite what I expected, but a good film indeed. It does need to be seen on the large screen for some of the details and the scope of the entire thing. I don’t feel a need to see it again. I was warned to pay careful attention to the first 15 minutes and if I did that, I would understand what was going on. I have to say that it worked.
We took Caroline to the pool so she could swim off her excess energy. She is getting better and better at swimming. It is fun to watch her improve. Also the pool feels really good on a humid day like yesterday.
So between the movie (you do make a 2 ½ hour time commitment) and the pool, I don’t have much more to show except a pile of kneaded clay ready for sculpting.
I want to make a bunch of tiny fedoras for Caroline’s stuff animals.
I am grateful for summer camp for Caroline so she can play with other children her age.

Unlike costumes, I don’t feel I need to hide what I am doing before a big reveal at DragonCon. So I am going to take progress pictures as I go along and post them here.

There will probably be another tomorrow and so on. It keeps me honest about what I got done in a day. If I skip a day it will probably be due to real life things that I need to do that day.
I know that the ruling yesterday is a baby step in a much larger legal picture but I think that the judge thought this one very carefully through and the ruling is very detailed. What is not known is whether this changes anything or is it still in limbo until the next ruling. I am figuring it is going all the way to the Supreme Court.
That being said, I am happy that the judge ruled the way he did. My first response was to e-mail my friend Brad who’s wedding I had gone to before Prop 8 killed the hopes of a lot of people. For a while there was some question if he and his husband were going to be able to stay married which would have been a crime in itself. They had been together for 21 years before they were allowed to get married. I was very happy for them when I was there to witness their wedding and I still am.
OK Work of Art producers, what are the judges smoking? Or how much did Miles pay them or how did he pay them? Yes, I know a lot of it how the show is edited but I have known in my time a number of artists cut of the same cloth and I want to strangle him just about a much if not more than I wanted to strangle them. I find his art boring and pretentious. And his acting skills suck too. He is a performance artist who has over played his hand. However I have the sad feeling that he is going to win it all over Abdi and Peregrine. Of those two, I would have to give the slight margin to Abdi. That last piece was brilliant in use of materials and the art itself.
Anyone besides me still watching Project Runway?
I am grateful that Caroline has slayed her first Dragon on Dragons Lair all on her own.
