Don’t Care to Repeat that Night Again

Posted By on February 11, 2011

I thought I had gotten off lightly from the virus since I had stomach upset on Wednesday evening. No, last night was much worse. My face looks like I have gone six rounds with a MMA fighter because of all the broken capillaries. My torso is sore this morning as well. The only upside was that when I finally really fell asleep, I stayed asleep until morning. When I awoke, I didn’t feel as bad as I did when I went to bed last night. I am hoping that that was the end of that because I really don’t have another day to spare to be sick in.

Peter took care of everything last night. He made dinner for Caroline and him. He got her to bed. He took care of the kitchen. And he took care of me. I love my husband.

Because I am feeling so off, I should probably stay away from the darker corners of the Internet because I know it is just going to make me upset. I can’t avoid those people who insist in being the Queen Bee of various lists and are on a praise me kick since we just complimented someone else. And I know it is because of my weakened state that it is bothering me so much but even with all this knowledge, it is bothering me a lot because I know if I tell them what I really think of their photo-shopped piece of art, they are going to go on a You are a Big Meanie rank with a dose of I am disabled and you should be nice to me because I am suffering from the following things I read about on the Internet. I just don’t have much tolerance today and I like to think that I am a pretty tolerant person.

So I think I am going to stay away from the Interweb until I feel a little more on an even keel. Or at least the lists that some of these people frequent.

I see poached eggs in my future. I have my coffee which I hope gets rid of this headache. If not I have some aspirin I will be taking if my belly will allow me.

Today is about recovery and getting back to normal or what passes for normal around these parts.

I am grateful that I do feel so much better than I did last night.

VIRUS!!!!!

Posted By on February 10, 2011

And it was the regular kind not the computer version.

There is a stomach bug that has been making the rounds of the school system here. Caroline got hit with it on Saturday but made a quick recovery. Peter got it on Tuesday night and had a pretty miserable night of it along with not a great Wednesday. He managed to recover enough to go bowling and is pretty much back to normal. Now it is my turn. I “tossed my cookies” a couple of times last night. This morning I am feeling achy and drained and my stomach still feels wrong.

This, of course, puts a bit of a slowdown in getting things done around the house along with all the Farpoint stuff I am doing. Bleck!

So today is very much a rehydrate day along with whatever I can get done. With any good luck (ha-ha-ha), I should be able to catch up with the stuff I am behind on.

I am just going to start with point A and work my way to B and on from there. Some days just putting one foot in front of the other is just the way to go.

I am grateful that both Caroline and Peter got over this virus pretty fast.

Crafty Tuesday Crunch Time Management

Posted By on February 8, 2011

A week from Friday is Farpoint. I have a lot to do between now and then. This week I managed to get a majority of Caroline’s costume done and a part of Ariel’s

So we get into how many hours do I have left and how many of those hours can I devote to the projects and how much is everything else that need to be done.

The postcards are on the back burner for the time being.

I have a few things I have to shop for to complete the looks I am creating. Once I have those items, the costumes will be pretty much a snap.

Here is how I am looking at the next couple of days. Mondays are not great days to get things done due to all the other things I do.

Today-Make a list of missing pieces and go and get them

Tomorrow-Finish the headpiece for Caroline’s costumes and sew either snaps or Velcro to get the pieces to fit together. Finish Ariel’s tunic which is taking a little longer than I thought it would and her wig is going to be a two to three day project but it can be done in between other projects.

Thursday-Continue Wig. Start doll 1,2,3. And Ship since I have permission from one of the creators to make one.

Friday-Finish all costume pieces and clean up.

Saturday and Sunday-Wig finishing and doll making

Monday-My busy day in the real world

Tuesday-I hope to be at clothing the dolls having painted them on Sunday/Monday (and do another Crafty Tuesday with an update)

By next Wednesday I want to be basically done so I can spend the next two days getting ready for the convention.

So that is my time management plan for the next week or so.

I am grateful to be able to see my pieces of lawn again without snow on top.

Moday Morning Quarterbacking Super Bowl 2011 edition

Among other things as well

Congratulations to the Packers and the Cheeseheads for a well played game. It was nice to see such an exciting game with chances for both teams some that they cashed in on and some that they didn’t. The Steelers didn’t play bad at all. The Packers just played a little bit better. Peter who was blogging the commercials said in the last 5 minutes of the fourth quarters, “This is a good game.” Which is was. I could have done with a few less commercials and some more minutes of play strung together.

Yesterday was a pretty busy day. I got most of Caroline’s costume done and fitted to her. I have a few details and a headpiece to do. Next Ariel’s tunic and wig. The wig is the biggest project in the whole piece. More on that tomorrow for Crafty Tuesday.

Is anyone else watching Faceoff? I am interested in the challenges and wonder how much longer a couple of these people are going to be on. They have skills but there are some that are so much more well versed in the materials.

Caroline and I have decided that Fig is a dragon disguised as a cat. She makes a very weird burble sound that I have never heard another cat make. She does meow and purr like a normal cat but then there is this sound that sounds like she is saying Brrrrrr with a rolled “r” and it up ticks in tone. So Caroline figured that she has to be a dragon because of one of the noises that a dragon making in “How to Train Your Dragon”.

I can see my lawn again. Which means that we are due for another snow storm. But today is a balmy 42 which feels warm after all the freezing weather we have been having.

See it is not all about football.

We noshed very well last night. I tried to time it out so we could graze. Caroline had her dinner at the usual time. I did find a 3 layer dip that had things that I like. I also found a 7 layer one I want to try sometime.

So today is my busy day. I have a number of things that are pretty much set for the day.

I am grateful for things that I have control over.

Superbowl Sunday 2011

This was almost a Random Thoughts before the Coffee kicks in (RTBTCKI) but I had a cup before sitting down to the keyboard.

So today is the Superbowl with two teams with a lot of tradition and traditions. If the Steelers win I think my sister-in-law is going to be happy because she lived in Pittsburg. If the Packers win, then my stepdaughter is going to be happy because she is in Cheese country. There are a lot of Steeler and Packer fans all over the country. It will be interesting to see what the final numbers are for viewing. They should be fairly good since we, the people of the USA, have made it important. There will be a lot of fans watching the game and going over what went wrong that their team was not there playing on their TV.

Apparently for 200 you can freeze your extremities off and watch the game from outside the stadium so you can feel like you are part of it. No thank you. I would rather see it from my warm house with my stove so I can make us yummy food to nosh. I need to sort out a good receipt for 7 layer dip. Anyone know one?

Caroline was violently ill yesterday morning but she improved during the day and this morning she is back to normal.

I need to clip my finger nails because it is hard to type. For those who have known me for more than 20 years, I have stopped biting my nails. I stopped about the time I was pregnant with Caroline. Now I have to keep them short because I tend to tear them with all the crafty stuff I play around with.

For a while I thought my dishwasher was dying. It wasn’t getting things as sparkly clean as it had been. Turns out it is not my dishwasher but the reformulated detergent which has less to none of certain substances that are bad for the environment but in doing so the dishes come out not as clean. They are still technically clean but I am doing a lot more rinsing before loading than I did before. I just remind myself that it is easier than washing them by hand.

The “new” Pokemon movies have a lot more computer animation in them especially for the ships and machines. Has anyone heard anything more about the New Harlock film?

Told you this would be rather Random.

Peter is in the Boss fight in the attic of Lonesome Manor. He figured out what he needs to do. Now he has to do it and it is pretty complicated too.

Costumes are today until Superbowl and then I think I am going to sculpt while watching the game. I need to get Ariel a black turtle-neck for her costume. She also needs plain black shoes. Caroline is going to need plain black flats for hers. I am trying to see if there is a store around here I can get her plain black flats. Once the costumes are done, I am on to the Farpoint Art show and postcards for a swap.

I applied for yet another job on an editorial staff. I figure it is going to be another where my resume is used to prove that they looked before hiring in house. Which is really sad since I have mad editing skillz and some kickin’ connections along with a work ethic that doesn’t quit. The division that takes me in would have one heck of an employee.

Fig is a hidey cat. We have to be careful when we sit down because she might be hiding under a throw. She also loved paper-bags. When she gets in trouble, she will run for her paper-bag in the kitchen and hide. She will also fall asleep in her paper-bag. She still loves to sit on my chest and fall asleep.

I am grateful that Caroline is back to normal. Sick Caroline is not much fun.
