It just wouldn’t be the run up to DragonCon without some sort of obstacle in our path.
So this time next week we will be on our way to Atlanta. I am hoping that there are no great problems getting from here to there. Before that Peter has to get Ariel off to her college and I still have a lot to do Art-wise.
So today is more finishing work, walking the property and getting things ready for the weekend which is looking more dire as the weather people get more animated about the whole thing.
I may go food shopping tomorrow for the weekend.
Off to do stuff.
I am grateful for things that make this weekend easier.

(Now with Flailing Kermit Arms)
I honestly need to get the Icon that is Kermit with the flailing arms for days like this.
Got a lot of stuff half way yesterday. Today is all about the finishing but I think I am going to make it all about the clean up and finishing on everything I currently am working on so I can go onto the next project with a clean conscience. I have a list of things that need to be done so I am going to start at point A and work my way to Z along with the laundry.
I am a Planet of the Apes fan from way back when they were first coming out. My parents probably gritted their teeth and took me to see the first two sequels as they came out. The rest I saw when they had Ape Weekend at the Silver Screen. I watched the TV shows both animated and live action. I kept up with my Apes. I even went to see the Tim Burton version of the film.
Yesterday I went to see “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” and I was just amazed. First off the technology has made such leaps and bounds from where it was even a couple of years ago. I think Andy Serkis can emote as anything up to and including a paper bag. It was nice seeing John Lithgow doing what he does best which is some darn fine acting. My respect for James Franco as an actor increased. Brian Cox is still a really good villain. It’s nice seeing Freida Pinto in a role that was color-blind casting. I really hope that she gets more roles in many different films because she is a good actress. And then there was Tom Feldon who’s face bothered me the whole time but I didn’t twig onto who it was until Peter told me. Nice job Tom. I do encourage people to see it in the theater. There is a scope that will be lost on smaller screens.
Well the Mets are talking about bringing up some of the new kids and trying them out in the big leagues. I don’t see why not. They aren’t going anywhere after September and they need pitching and hitting.
The Earthquake: I was in my truck going over a repaved part of the road when it happened. I was afraid that the truck has seriously gone out of alignment all of the sudden or that this repaved road was worse than what it replaced. Got to the movie theater only to find out what happened. We had a couple of toys fall at the house but that was about it.
The Hurricane: Of course there is one. We are a week away from our drive down to Atlanta so something has to cause massive problems between here and there. We are going to batten down the hatches and get our yard clear of things that could fling around in high winds. We have plenty of water but may need a few things to tide us over. Got a day or so to see where it is really coming.
I am grateful for weather that decides to go way out into the Atlantic and leave me alone.

This one is going to be pretty picture heavy so a majority of it is going behind the cut.
This entry is about that project that I said was the other monkey on my back for the Convention.
Now many of you may remember that I made an X-Men First Class Uniform for DragonCon. And I kept hinting at the prop I needed to complete the costume.
Well I have it to a point that I want to show it to see if it is recognizable as the object I made. (Hope that made sense to y’all but my mind is kinda focused on things other than words these days)
Today is all about the rest of the large puppets and Ship from Ben 10. Then onto the dolls for the table. One day is going to be clean up on all that I have done so far that just needs one or two things to be really complete. Also I need to rebuild parts of Nicky for the Puppetry Slam (Sunday Night 11:30).

OK Now THAT’S the Torchwood I know and love.
This felt like Torchwood and, even though we don’t know how yet, it did advance the plot.
Yes, there were some basic problems with the story but again that’s Torchwood.
Spoilers behind the cut because I can’t really talk much more about it without talking about something that might be considered a spoiler.
I am grateful when a plan comes together.

Photos of progress behind the cut.
I am moving onto the next Big Project having gotten the puppets up to a point. Then I think it is going to be clean-up on what I have done and onto the Pluzzies, stuffed critters, and the dolls. I am afraid that the crew of Serenity is going to have to wait a year before coming into being.
Peter and Caroline are having fun. They have been checking in on occasion. The recording session went very well according to Peter.
We had one heck of a storm dump an inch and a half of rain in under an hour. I need to walk the property to see if we have any damage from it. The boy cats were huddled around me while the lighting and thunder roared through the area. Fig was sitting on the back of the couch watching the whole storm.
I need to get some foam glued together before the next storm hits the area later this afternoon.
Onto the next thing.
I am grateful for screwy ideas that work.
