Thanksgiving 2020

Posted By on November 26, 2020

255 days ago, New York went into a shut down the likes of which we have never seen and hope never to see again.

That has made this holiday, for many, rather different.

My mother is making meals to go for my family in Atlanta so they can enjoy her cooking in safe conditions.

We are not going up to Connecticut to celebrate with Beth, Randi, and the girls like we have done in the past.

I have friends who are doing food exchange with family members so everyone gets that dish that Auntie makes that no one else can.

It was hard to find a smaller turkey which makes sense since many people are not doing those large gathering, so they are looking for smaller turkeys. I did find mine at the weight I wanted and without much added.

I got the sides we all like and I am trying my hand at making gravy because I can control what goes into it.

It will be a quiet day for us which will be nice.

We plan to watch whatever they are doing for the parade and the Westminster Dog show. Then I have football to watch.

We have our health and for that we are truly thankful.

I am grateful for all those who are celebrating sensibly this year.

Random Things I am Thankful For Before the Coffee Kicks In 2020 Edition

This year has really made me re-evaluate what I find important in my life.

I am thankful for my family both by blood and by choice. They have helped me more than they will ever know.

I am thankful for my job. I know how hard it is to get one these days and I am thankful that they took a chance on me. I think I am doing well. I do know that they have expanded what I am doing around the store.

I am thankful for Zoom because it has been a way for me to stay connected with people.

I am thankful for my clowder of cats. I awoke this morning with Phoebe asleep and Mewlan at my feet. Inky came by for her morning scritches and snuggles. Fig wanted some attention and pointed out that the food bowls were almost empty.

I am thankful for all the things I learned this year. I have a number of new skills and ways of making things.

I am thankful for the ability to teach others. I have learned that I am pretty good at it.

I am thankful for my husband and all he does for me. I love him more each day. We know each other so well that we take care of things without even saying a word.

I am thankful for a roof over my head and food on my table.

I am thankful for my country and the people in it. I am thankful that the voice of the people still counts.

I am grateful for all I have to be thankful for.

Crafty Tuesday Giving Thanks for what I have

Posted By on November 24, 2020

I got called in Monday to work so there was no entry yesterday. However, I planned on this week doing a series of entries about things I am thankful for this past year.

Today is about my creative thanks.

This year has been both productive and frustrating at the same time.

I have created things I have never created before which is a plus.

I am teaching others how to do what I do.

I have made new puppets and costumes using techniques that I learned this year.

I have not gotten done as much as I want but I did get things done.

I am thankful for my creative brain and all that it does for me.

I have chances that others don’t have and I am thankful for that.

I am thankful for my artistic friends. I appreciate each and everyone of them.

I am thankful for my Art Salon even if it has been virtual, we still meet and talk getting our creative going again. We are there for each other. But I do miss the baked goods.

I am thankful for new fake furs that I am finding both in fabric stores and on-line.

I am thankful for my daughter’s wealth of Ideas.

I am thankful for how my brain works through a problem.

I am grateful for all I have to be thankful for creatively.

RTBTCKI Saturday and my dance card is full

Today I have to work from 8:00-12:30. Caroline is taking a defensive driving course online. Peter is writing the next comic he needs to write.

We have some plans for the rest of the day as well.

Tomorrow I have an early shift and am teaching a sewing lesson.

Then I have two days to get ready for Thanksgiving and our Black Friday Graphic Novel Sale.

I feel in balance right now. I am getting things done in a timely fashion which feels great.

I need to get a few things for the Christmas Carol reading we are doing December 6th

Right now all the cats are napping and it is darn cute.

Yes, I did cry during the last episode of Supernatural. It was a good ending to the entire series.

The Lego Star Wars holiday special is worth your time. There are so many easter eggs for the devote Star Wars fan, but you don’t need to know every detail to enjoy it.

I am grateful for energy to get things done.

Busy Week

I picked up some additional hours at work as we get ready for the holiday season. Good for my paycheck but not so much for blogging.

I have today off. I work the weekend and then two days off before we really get into the season.

I am enjoying my job. It is a good fit for me. I have to use many of my organizational skills which is nice. There is also exercise that I didn’t expect. I have to do a lot of squats to get to the lower shelves. I can feel the burn there. The other part that is getting quite a workout are my hands.

The weather change has reminded me that I don’t do as well as I did when I was younger with cold weather. It is part of getting older.

We are sorting out Christmas and Thanksgiving for being at home. I have my list for our thanksgiving dinner. Caroline and I have decided to go for a live tree we can plant in the yard afterwards. Our next trick is figuring out where we can put it safely.

I have a wacky idea for decorations this year. Let’s see if I can get it done.

Today is housework and starting a project I need to get done before December 6th.

I am grateful for extra hours.
