Especially if the wind is not blowing.
It was 7 degrees when Caroline went out to the bus yesterday.
Today it is 18 degrees and it feels better. I don’t feel like every molecule of heat is being ripped from my body if I step outside. It is nowhere near warm but it does feel better than yesterday.
Yesterday was a regrouping day. Today is an errand day as in I have a lot of errands to run and a larder to restock.
This week, or what is left of it, is about getting back into the groove of school and afterschool activities. Time to get out of the pause that was the holidays.
I did have fun during the holidays. I saw my family and a couple of friends along the way. I made new friends and got to talk puppets with new people. I relearned that once a theater person, always a theater person. It gives common ground.
My brain still feels like it is in a deep freeze. Thinking is hard because it keeps coming back to I’m cold. I think once my body thaws out, my brain is going to work better.
I did get iPhoto to work again. I plan to organize some albums for our adventures. I also want to scan in my brother’s clues for Caroline’s adventure to her daemon blood sword.

I am grateful for those 10 degrees. It is amazing how much of a difference that makes.

But my computer and I are disagreeing about iPhoto and opening. It won’t open because it is caught in a phantom download. I am trying to sort it out however I am getting very frustrated with the whole thing.
Cold is used too lightly I think. There is cold, bloody cold, and WFT cold. Right now I can feel the cold pour into the room from the windows as the baseboard heaters try to keep up. We are also trying to make sure that our pipes are OK. Some of them are on the side of the house that is not seen by the sun. We have dripped the faucets so I am hoping that is enough.
The rest of the convention was fun. NASA was awesome. The trip home was pretty OK considering what others were dealing with.
Again photos would make this cooler.
Cold is making it hard to think about anything but COLD.
So stay warm and stay safe. I have to go see if I can get either vehicle to start in this cold.

The nice thing about getting in the day before is that you have the next morning to get started slowly and work your way into the convention.
Peter’s table is in Babylon 5 land with all his old buddies. It has been nice catching up with people. There is less to catch up on since we all saw each other at Phoenix Comic Con but still it is nice to find out what everyone is doing and what people’s children, who we have watch grow up, are doing as well.
So far it has been a little slow but then it is also Friday before work lets out. Peter and Caroline are off at a book store signing right now and I am manning the table. Once they get back, I will be taking Caroline to the Pyramids to see the aquarium today. We figure rainforest tomorrow and Science on Sunday with our visit to NASA on Monday. Caroline is very happy to be at this convention especially since she has all these other things to do so she doesn’t become bored.
I had a nice chat with Kristian Nairn before they opened the doors. I got to tell him how much I have enjoyed his performance as Hodor in Game of Thrones. The man is a great storyteller in his own right. I heard some amusing tales about the behind the scenes goings on that just tell one how much everyone respects and loves each other on that show. It sounds like a good working environment.
I am already seeing a lot of great costumes here. It is interesting to see how far fandom and costuming has come in over 30 years. Also the fan groups are trying to outdo each other here. The set up are rather elaborate.
I am grateful that everyone has been so gracious. We feel well taken care of.

Or as the Weather Channel calls it, Winter Storm Hercules. When did we start naming winter weather?
We are hoping to miss the whole thing because we are at the Moody Gardens in Galveston TX.
We got to the airport in plenty of time. In fact we were early since we were slated to leave at 1:00 and got out at 2:15. To add to that we had head winds all the way adding to the amount of time on the plane. This lead to a long flight. Again Caroline measures all plane rides again Australia so this was long but not that long. She is such a good traveler.
We are now ensconced in a lovely suite that the convention is putting us up on. And it is lovely indeed. Caroline has her own room and loved it. We have a nice room as well. Then there is the sitting room, which is larger than the ground floor of our house. We are very comfortable.
Tomorrow Space City Con starts and we are looking forward to seeing everyone. Already saw John Hudgens, Arnie Starr, and Mira Furlan. That was just as we were checking in. We have lots of old friends showing up for this one and I know there are new people to meet as well.
I am grateful that Caroline is such a good traveler.

And that is the first time I have written (Ok typed) 2014 in context of the year itself.
Last night we played Disney Scene it then went to a friend’s house to celebrate the entering of the New Year. Caroline made it to 11:35 before she fell asleep on my arm. She woke up enough to say Happy New Year and managed to walk home.
We stayed up even later because we were awake so really didn’t get to sleep until 3 AM but didn’t get up until 9:30.
Today is all about getting ready for Space City Con, which we will be attending. Peter is going to have a table there and we will have the usual scripts and the like. I am debating about bringing Gold and Rumple. We’ll see how it goes. Caroline will be selling drawings.
Until we get the convention done, the rest of the year is pretty much on hold or at least in the planning stages.
I am looking forward to the Rose Bowl Parade. I have always enjoyed it and learned about plants along the way. I do like the rules of the Parade because it forces people to be clever with plants.
I guess I will start with thing A and work my way through today’s list of MUST BE DONE.
Hope your New Year’s Eve was pleasant and the beginning of the year has been good to you.
I am grateful for friends to share the dropping the ball.
