In 1927,Werner Heisenberg stated that the more precisely the position of some particle is determined, the less precisely its momentum can be known, and vice versa.
Our current position is home under a blanket of snow that is to shift to a wintery mix then rain and then back to snow. The current rate of snowfall is approximately an inch or a little more an hour. Once this shifts to rain, flooding becomes a problem.
We are to leave tomorrow for Farpoint in Baltimore Maryland, which we have been looking forward to. At this point I haven’t a clue what the roads are going to be like tomorrow. The first problem is going to be getting out of the drive then to the highway and then off the Island.
So today I plan to do all my usual activities to get us ready to go to a convention. I did all shopping yesterday. Today I do laundry and pack. I figure that way we will be able to get moving when we can.
If we can’t get out Friday, then we are going to look at Saturday as our travel day. If not Saturday, then we are going to have to bag Farpoint this year. Sorry kids. We loved to be there but the weather had other ideas.
Of course the rain is the game changer here. Depending on how long that happens and how much standing water there is that freezes, says a lot about what we are going to be able to do tomorrow.
So it looks like we aren’t going to know anything until tomorrow morning.
Everyone stay safe and warm or cool to my friends on the other side of the hemisphere.
I am grateful for things that make this storm tolerable.

They said the official snow total is 1 ½ inches for our area. Considering I just shoveled 3 inches of snow off the walk and steps, I call shenanigans. Our backyard is again looking like a winter wonderland. The snow is the light fluffy kind that blows everywhere. Fortunately there is not much wind.
I think I am not going anywhere today until bowling. I got my cardio and weight lifting for about 50 minutes this morning while dealing with the snow. Better than nothing. I am also going to go through some forms to keep the body lose and ready to move.
I thought I had counteracted this nonsense by finally buying Caroline snow boots that fit her feet. That seemed to do it last year. At least her feet will be both warm and comfortable while she walks outside.
I think I know which project gets tackled next since we are 5 days away from Farpoint.
I am grateful that is was only 3 inches of snow.

Which means that yesterday was a year ago that Stephen King came and visited Peter. I would like to say publicly that we wouldn’t have gotten through last year without Mr. King. He helped us in a number of ways that allowed Peter to concentrate on his recovery from the stroke. I will never be able to repay his kindness.
A lot has happened in a year. Peter has spent most of it regaining what he lost and we adjusted to other things in our lives. At this point we pretty much know where things stand and what we can change and what will not be changing.
Peter bowled a 236 in league on Wednesday, which is a new post stroke high score. He said that he felt normal while bowling that game. Everything just clicked the way it uses to.
We are looking at a little more snow Sunday into Monday but compared with what we got last week, this is very manageable. It is just snow on top of snow and ice that has not melted yet. I am not expecting Caroline to be home from school unless the road conditions are terrible.
This weekend Caroline and I are going to start the research for her science fair project. We will start at the library and work from there. Her project is water filtration with recycled or up-cycled materials. We know the basics but are trying to find more information on the topic. Anyone have anything we should go look at on the net?
I am grateful for the past year even with everything that happened both good and bad.

We are looking forward to our second convention of the year since we went to Space City in Galveston TX the first week of the year. Usually Farpoint is our first convention of the year.
I enjoy Farpoint. It is a very relaxed convention made up of people that I have gotten to know over the years. It is sort of like the family feeling of a ChattaCon with more of a media bend. We know each other. Our kids have grown up together at this convention. It was Caroline’s first convention.
So I have a week to take care of some stuff for the convention and before the convention. Back to making a list and checking it twice. I will have some objects in the Art Show. If I can get this other idea off the ground, then I will have that too.
Figgy is very attached to Caroline. She follows Caroline around in the morning and flops close enough that Caroline can absentmindedly or actively pet her. After Caroline goes to school, she goes off to one of her hidey holes and sleeps. Then about the time that Caroline gets home from school (Don’t ask me how the cat can tell time but she does), Figgy come out of where ever she has been most of the day and watches out the window for Caroline to come home. Once she sees Caroline, she hops from her perch and is waiting at the door for her little mistress.
My cat Millie has become my couch cat. He sits next to me on the couch and sleeps or purrs or purrs and sleeps. Occasionally I will feel a paw on my leg as if he is just checking to see if I am still there. Millie will also sit next to Peter if I am not on the couch.
I like it when I can clean the cat boxes outside. Winter makes it interesting and not in a good way.
Caroline has been working hard on her flute. It amazes me how much she has learned in almost a year and a half. I am still impressed with her ability to read music.
This time last year I was on my way to Jacksonville Florida to bring my husband home from inpatient rehab. How much a difference a year makes in one’s life.
I am grateful for stuff already for the convention.

As in I have some serious snow fatigue. I had to shovel 4 times yesterday due to snow/slush and independent plow contractors who thought it was a good idea to deposit large amounts of slush into my driveway since it was clear. I was a good citizen and had gone out and shoveled so that the melting snow could continue to the storm drain half way down the block. My reward was even heavier dirty slushy snow being pushed into the areas that I had so carefully cleared by hand. It was not being done by the village plows but by some local contracted plows that broke a number of traffic laws along with depositing slush and debris into people’s driveways. So this morning rather than the clear end of the drive that I did have, I have a frozen puddle of slush. Not a happy villager right now.
Caroline had another day home from school yesterday. The road conditions were such that it was hazardous for vehicles on the road before sunrise when the high school kids are picked up. It was originally a two hour delay but it went to no school by the morning. So she worked on her flute and her science fair project along with playing. Peter’s bowling league did meet and he did pretty well. Coming back was more of an adventure than going since things were juuuust starting to freeze at that point.
Today I need to venture out today to take care of some errands that didn’t happen the past couple of days due to the weather. The roads are pretty much passable as long as one watching out for black ice, which is all over the place. Getting Caroline to the bus stop is going to be interesting.
Farpoint is going to depend entirely on the weather. If it looks like we can get down there and back safely with no delay then we will venture it. If we have another storm or the threat of a storm, then we are going to have to play it by ear. So we hope to be there but it will depend on Mother Nature.
I have gotten a lot done this morning but then I woke up at 5:00 am and couldn’t go back to sleep so I got up and got busy with various tasks that needed to be done around the house including the cat boxes on the off chance we have garbage pick up today. In recycling, this was the third time that they haven’t picked up paper. I have a lot of paper stacked up. I have to figure out where it is going to go for another two weeks and maybe then I can recycle. Either that or it is going to be spring before I can get rid of this paper.
Caroline has taken to watching Opposite Worlds and enjoying it. She is cheering on team Epoch since they have been stuck in the past for three challenges. Team Chronos hasn’t done much to endear themselves in her eyes. She is also loving FaceOff this season. I noticed that the challenges are getting harder as the seasons go on. Caroline loved the Dragon Challenge.
I am grateful for snow removal done correctly.
