With the understanding that I was really tired when I watched this having just got back to the house after a very long day at NYCC, here is my review.
Interesting concept and not perfect but well executed over all. Had me wondering how they were going to get out of this situation and best use of a ticking clock in Doctor Who in a while. And good use of a Mummy, which I didn’t think was going to work based on the previews.
Acting was solid all around.
The Mystery was interesting over all.
The Doctor/Clara dynamic is starting to take over the series but that might be the theme of the year. What does a companion mean to the Doctor and what does the Doctor mean to a companion? Parts of this I like and other parts I could have done without.
Number of very clever in-jokes through out the episode.
I am grateful I made it home in time to see Doctor Who.

I will be at NYCC on Friday, Saturday and Sunday which is a slight change from the original plan but it works for me.
If you want to find me, Peter’s table is B5 in Artist Alley is a good place to start.
I am also going to be, with a little luck, in the audience at the Once Upon a Time panel on Friday with my Rumple puppet. If I have room, I’ll pack Mr. Gold as well. I am also going to bring Nick and a Loki for the weekend.
This is a big one. Not quite SDCC big but getting there.
They are trying a new system for getting people into and out of panels. If it works, might be something for other conventions to look at and makes it possible to both attend panels you want to see and walk around the convention rather than making it an either or proposition.
I recommend comfortable shoes and a lot of patience. And water. Don’t dehydrate.
Food is going to be a challenge to get because of the number of people but remember about the food carts outside the venue. There was a kicking Mac & Cheese truck last year.
So hope to see some of you there. Please don’t be scared to come up and tell me that you read my blog. I love meeting y’all.
I am grateful for things that make it easier to get around the convention.

Well Dragon Con has come and gone. I have NYCC this next weekend to which I will be bringing various puppets some to sell and some for me to play with.
And I am already looking to next year for what I am going to have done by Dragon Con.
I would like to have everything done before August this year giving me a month to get everything pretty. This includes the Puppet Slam puppets. Might do another Doctor Who sketch.
I do know that I have a Capaldi puppet in my future possibly two.
I have an idea for a couple of others as well.
I do know that the OUAT puppets are going from idea to reality.
And there will be some new dolls next year.
Also might experiment with the hand puppet sets.
And there is the soft doll idea that I have been toying with.
Again too many ideas and not enough time.
So who or what would you like to see me turn into puppets?

This episode seems to be one of those polarizing ones. I have not found anyone in the middle ground, which is where I am standing. I liked it but I did not love it. There were some brilliant parts and some seriously Oh Come ON sections.
I thought all the actors did brilliantly. Special kudos to Ellis George (Courtney Woods) for giving us such a nuanced performance. Bringing a kid along to make a point was a bit daring.
I did love the Doctor’s speech on the beach. Thought Capaldi knocked that one of the park. A little less for Jenna Coleman and the speech in the TARDIS at the end. She did well enough and I honestly don’t know if it was her, the direction or the script but it rang a little hollow for me.
The decision to be made was interesting and set up some of those lovely moral dilemmas that we have on this show. Also that the Doctor basically said, “Not my monkeys, not my circus” was a bit different than previous incarnations.
I am grateful that most of the episodes have given me something to think about afterwards.

Nice to see an Earth-centric episode.
Not School Re-union but what can be?
Overall the acting was good. The interaction between the Doctor, Clara and Pink worked for me. Sets up some dynamics for the rest of the season.
Clara is finding out that if she wants it all, there are consequences to it.
The creature in this one is almost an after thought but it looked cool but the creature was not the point of the episode.
Nice dropping of references to previous things in the Who-nverse.
Overall would watch again just for the acting.
