Honestly I have three of them but it is 191 days to DragonCon and Shorleave announced that its big guest is John Barrowman who is an awesome guest at all the conventions he goes to.
So it is time for me to trim it down to reality.
So DragonCon Art Show is going to go one of two ways. I am either going to create puppets or the Women of Once Upon a Time or I am going to create puppets of Sherlock Holmes four times over along with the mice. For the puppet slam, I need to build a Sam, Dean, Cas and possibly a Crowley since I think I have most of the rest of it already built. Oh and other Captain Jack before Shoreleave.
And then there are the other two projects that are partially done and need to be all done. Making armor for a puppet is interesting.
That breaks down to
10 puppets for DragonCon
4(ish) puppets for DragonCon puppet slam
1 for Shoreleave
2 commissioned pieces
3 other puppets I want to make just to make them.
Or 20 puppets by Labor Day weekend.
Considering that last year I did 27, this is in the do-able category.
There it is. My mad plan for 2015.

Right now I am a little obsessed with the weather for good reasons. Caroline walks to school so I have concerns about her being able to walk the two and a half blocks to her school. We had the problem with the pipes which seems to be fixed but then I really can’t be sure until we get a couple of days above freezing. Thus what the weather is like for the next couple of days interests me greatly.
Yesterdays shoveling was what we call heart attack snow. It was a combination of snow, slush, water, and ice, which is very heavy and took some serious effort to shovel. So I got my cardio and upper body work out done for yesterday.
We did watch the Oscars. Over all I thought Neil Patrick Harris did a fine job. I thought Lady Gaga channeled Julie Andrew very nicely and Julie Andrew seemed to also. I am betting that the Lego Oscars were almost more coveted than the real thing. I wish Box Trolls had won for animated but I knew in my heart of hearts it wasn’t to be. I am glad that Birdman won for the various awards that it did and I encourage you to see it if you haven’t. It is probably one of the most amazing films of last year.
I do want to applaud Graham Moore for his acceptance speech especially this part of it When I was 16 years old, I tried to kill myself. Because I felt weird and I felt different and I felt like I did not belong. And now I’m standing here. And so I would like for this moment to be for that kid out there who feels like she’s weird or she’s different or she doesn’t fit in anywhere. Yes, you do! I promise, you do! Stay weird. Stay different, and then when it’s your turn and you are standing on this stage, please pass the same message along. It needs to be said and heard as many times as it can.
I am looking forward to Once Upon a Time being back and the teaser was neat.
Looking at the week ahead I am realizing that I have to give myself permission to have some ‘me’ time. I do have to remind myself from time to time that part of keeping hearth and home in order is giving me some time. We have been bouncing from minor crises to minor crises for a couple of weeks now and it is wearing.
I am also dealing with the creative itch. I am going to just have to buckle down and create for a bit.
I am grateful that I still have that creative mind.

Are what is falling outside our house on top of the ice and rain puddles. The slush outside is a thing to behold and fear. Not going anywhere today. And this is with the outside temperature above freezing (OK it’s 33 so one degree but still).
Last year after we had weeks of this sort of weather, Peter jokingly declared that if Frozen won the Oscar, then Elsa might let up on us. It did and the weather went to an almost spring. Let’s just give Frozen a second Oscar and get this done with.
I did check, this is the first day above freezing in two weeks.
So we have dripping water from the eaves and snow.
Caroline is ready to go back to school tomorrow. She had done the assigned work for the break and has repacked her gym clothes.
The house actually feels warm for the first time in a while. The thermostats all declare that we have gotten the house to 68 degrees which is what we get everything at. Still have to bleed the zones that aren’t working well but I am going to wait on that for a bit.
The NFL combine happened this week where players that want into the NFL show off their skill set and how athletic they are. It is all for show since they train specifically for looking good at the combine and not for what playing in the NFL is really like. The sports pundits are having a field day over the littlest things like that one guy came in looking bloated so can he lose weight? This is the NFL not MMA. There are not weight classes for players. Have you seen the size of some of the players? It is an exercise in giving ESPN and all the other sports networks something to argue about until the draft.
Yes, we will be watching the Oscars tonight. I am torn about who I want to win what because this year has some really solid films and performances. By the end we will know what the mind of the Academy was this year. I am going to say it might go a bit anti-British which is a shame.
Off to sort out what I need to do today. Might have to try something fun in there. Do have to try to get laundry done.
I am grateful for temperatures above freezing.

But first I need to make sure that we are fine with all the pipes and what not before I restore the basement back to its usual form.
Spring can’t arrive fast enough this year. Spring not summer. I am not ready for summer yet. According to the weather report, we are getting above freezing for the next two days during the day which will be nice to give the pipes a chance to rest.
Then onto the cunning plan for Dragon Con this year. Yes it came to me like a bolt of lighting at Farpoint. It is totally screwy but could be a lot of fun. I also might have the puppet slam sketch in mind as well. Just need to build about 15 puppets total between now and DragonCon. I think that is more doable than last years very ambitious project.
I made pancakes for breakfast this morning. Everyone enjoyed them.
So I am sort of waiting to see how the house reacts to slightly warmer weather.
I am grateful for screwy ideas that amuse me.

Outside our house it is 2 degrees F with a wind chill factor of -20. Inside the house it is, according to the thermostat, 55. I can feel the wind bringing cold inside the house and ours is pretty well insulated too.
We are still dealing with some heating issues but we have managed to get the house to that 55 between the heating system and a few well placed space heaters. We are also wearing extra layers and our warmest socks.
This is ridiculous in my books. Yes, I know it is winter. Yes, I know it can be cold but this winter has hit the point of absurdity for this sort of thing.
Plus we have the possibility of more precipitation in the form of ice and snow before it goes to all rain Saturday into Sunday. I am so looking forward to both Saturday and Sunday being the first days above freezing in quite a while.
We, and everyone else in the area, are going through a lot of gas, oil and electricity trying to keep our houses livable, which is about all we are going to get right now.
The cats are competing for the sunny spots on the couch and the heating ones on the back of the couch.
The humans are just trying to stay warm and positive.
I am grateful for heat and hot water.
